Star Garden

LeMoyne Stars – Star Garden, Mini Tumblers – “Tumbling Into Insanity”, Winter Wonderland

Finally a name for the Lemoyne Star pattern quilt.  I wrote them all down and then last night I read them off to my husband and asked him to pick a name and he choose “Star Garden” thank you Rebecca from Quilting Everyday for the suggestion.  Rebecca is from Alaska I have linked to her blog if you wish to visit her.  I heard from so many of you I couldn’t keep up with sending you back a message – but thanks for all your suggestions!

I got the Tumbling Into Insanity quilt washed and dried – it ended up smaller than I thought it would be – all that quilting I guess shrunk it up a little and washing it always does too –  and I did have to square it up some before I put the binding on it – 96 x 92 inches – it should fit the camper bed great too and I think it will come along with us on the next trip.  I started piecing it a year ago and finished!  I am linking to Prairie Sewn Studios today.

the crinkly back – and yes I love those dots too – in fact I love the backing so much that I can see this quilt being reversed now and then and enjoy looking at those large polka dots.  This makes the 7th finished quilt this year! (of course one was finished just a week into the year so it was last years work really), at the end of the year I will do post of finishes.

Winter Wonderland is growing by leaps and bounds – the blocks are so easy to make.  I have caught up with everything that is cut so I need to cut more and get stitching.  If I figured right I need 306 blocks and I have 52 done.

Most every summer I have several ferns hanging on the porch and almost every year I have tree frogs make them a home – if you look closely you can see him in the saucer area where there is water.

Here is a close up, a little blurry.  I enjoyed drinking my tea on the porch yesterday morning and could hear him croaking so much I had to go back in to get the camera and take his photo.

Don’t forget that Craftsy is having a sale on 400+ classes now through Sunday night.  Now is the time to check it out if you want to save money on a class and there are plenty to check through.

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

Wow, 7 finishes this year? I’ve had 1 finish so far this year, and at the rate I’m going, I’m not sure that I’ll have a 2nd finish before the year’s end. 😮 I love your Tumbling into Insanity, all washed and dried and crinkly. That backing is perfect … and I think it’ll be fabulous reversed.

Congrats on finishing your Tumblers quilt, Karen! I am amazed by how many quilts you finish. And I did not know tree frogs liked ferns! Our ferns are hanging in our screen porch where the frogs can’t get to them, but we used to have a tree frog who liked to hang out on the window above my front door a few summers ago. Always made me happy when I spotted him there.

Karen, your tumblers quilt is fantastic, love the scrappy crinkly look of it now that it’s been washed. 7 finished quilts so far this year – WOW, that’s quite an achievement, congratulations! I do enjoy reading your blog and having been away for a few days without Internet access, I’ve just enjoyed a bumper read! Celia in England

Love the “Star Garden” name… and love that you let your honey pick the name too!! I like involving my honey is decisions of quilting when appropriate too! 🙂
I can see the top of your Star Garden quilt too! That is sooo exciting working on a frame to see the top I think 🙂 I use a hoop and love it.. but sometimes I get lost on big projects on where I really am…
Love your little visiting frog.. glad he kept you company and you shared with us! I miss having ferns like I used to when we lived in Tennessee… but I do love being near the beach… the weather here is too harsh for regular ferns for the most part though… so thanks for showing yours off a bit 🙂
Congrats on 7 finishes too! I would count each one… you may have one lapping over every year too… or more! lol
I think you will love using your tumbler quilt in the camper … and both sides ROCK! Congrats on a stellar finish there 😉

I love all your quilts. That is amazing to have completed so many. The Tumbling into Insanity quilt works so well in your RV. You have shared 3 different quilts today and they are all different and I love them all.

The frog is an unexpected surprise on the post. =) I like the decisions you’ve made on Winter Wonderland. That’s going to be the focus of a pretty big quilt. Your tumbler quilt is great for the camper bed. A bit of coziness. You just do so many beautiful things!
