Wagon’s West and Other Projects

Wagon’s West (dresden plates), William Morris in Applique-Floral Fantasy, Williamsburg Beauty

I have too many projects going once again – I tend to do that sometimes.  Yesterday I spent time working on my Wagon’s West block while I was catching up on Madame Secretary which I have been recording.  It is an ok show, but not spectacular by any means.  Here are the 8 that I have the circles done but still need to put to a square background.  Of course on the wall you can also see the Caswell Quilt blocks.  Now instead of getting the next set of 4 Wagon’s West blocks prepped I think I will work on the applique instead.  I said awhile back I was going to work on that and never got to it.  You can see in the photo the 3 circle blocks also that are now done.  I will need to come up with a fanciful fun name for the 365 circle quilt.  I am linking to Esther’s blog today.

this much of the final border done on Floral Fantasy.  I am trying not to rush!   As it is I think when I get Diamonds are Forever on the frame I need to let it sit for a week and rest the fingertips.

Some of you might have forgotten about this small child size quilt that I started at the end of summer – I brought in the camper with us intending to work on it while we were gone and neglected it while I was hiking almost every day instead.  I got the box out yesterday and picked out a row of bricks to work on and got back to it.   Still no name for this one either.

The final roses rescued before we get a frost.  The valley below us had a light frost on Monday night – we might get cold enough here for one this week (and might not) so I thought I would cut the final blooms to enjoy in the house.

I am working on so many projects that I think I might have to pick out one to concentrate on and move to the finish pile – but then it is kind of fun to have a variety to work on isn’t it!

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

It’s good to have a variety as in my applique finger…the middle one that I cannot use a thimble or anything on / feels too awkward, was so sore after appliqueing on Sunday that I had to give it a rest. That’s when it is time for piece something for the scrap challenge or hand quilt.

Though I will say since starting the Shenandoah thing I am starting to feel bogged down. Or my finger is, lol ;0)

I love those Wagons West blocks – they are going to “play” well together. We agree about “Madame Secretary.” Not “West Wing” by any means. I think if they stopped all the crises and let the plot focus on some of the other actors, they’d have a “richer” program. We are hooked on “The Good Wife,” though. The plot seems to have more depth.

I know what you mean about having too many projects on the go. I have a wallhanging I’m quilting, a pair of socks I’m knitting (only on the first one after months!), and a bunch of Christmas projects to work on, besides boxes of blocks stacked up in the closet. I did make 8 mug rugs yesterday, though, so I feel a little better. I used orphan blocks for 4 of them which is an additional plus.

I think your design wall looks quite festive with so many projects.. and once you get Floral Fantasy off the frame you will have to bind it.. that should be a quick finish… then let those fingertips rest and work on other stuff! 🙂
Love the roses… sorry you have frosts starting already.. I don’t miss Tennessee weather once it gets cold.. I am happy to be a Floridian now 🙂

You’re a stronger person than I am … I have a feeling that once my next quilt was on the frame, I’d be stitching away so fast that my head would spin. ha! You didn’t mention your postage stamp quilt … has it taken a back burner lately?

Love that design wall!! All that beautiful color and inspiration!! All the projects are looking great…and, yes, I had forgotten about the child size quilt from back in the summer…. So nice that you have such variety….you can just pick whatever fits your mood for the day. And I love following along with whatever you are working on!
Floral Fantasy is so close to being done!

I love having a variety of projects to work on but once one gets close to done I tend to fixate on it until it’s done.

All your projects look so beautiful up on the design wall! Sometimes I feel I have too many projects going on and not making any progress on any of them. Beautiful roses! We had below zero temperatures last night, it did get up to 13* today.

Lots of fun projects up on the design wall. I love your Wagon Wheel blocks, Dresden Plates are a favorite of mine. I like to work on multiple projects at once, though I try to limit it to no more than 4 at a time. More then that and it’s hard to make noticeable progress.
