Center Done

Handful of Scraps, Winter Wonderland

The center of Handful of Scraps is now finished and will be put aside a couple days or a week while I work on other things – I just really wanted to finish that center for some reason so was really concentrating on it the last couple of weeks.  I believe I started this quilt on May 12th two weeks of work already done!  This measures about 28 inches from point to point.  I am linking to Em’s Scrapbag: Moving it Forward, and Cooking Up Quilts; MCM #22

I am now on the last row of Winter Wonderland!!  When I get to this point I unpin from the 3rd rod in the back as part of the row is pinned to that strip of fabric.  As you can see from this photo it has to be unpinned so you can do your quilting.  I unpin and roll the back rod pulling that strip of fabric back.

I then pin the quilt top to the batting and the backing – it is the final row so it is smooth and nothing really needs to be tightened at this point.  I do pin the fabric from the back row to the batting as I need that area of support to hold my laptop while I watch shows and quilt at the same time.

Now ready to start that final row!

How great that the finish is in site. I so enjoy reading and viewing your progress daily. I’m inspired to make or select my next hand quilting project. It will probably be another mini quilt.

That center for Handful of Scraps is great! Love those colors….cannot wait to see all the scrappy goodness you add!
Winter Wonderland is so close to completion! Enjoyed your pictures and description of what is involved using the quilting stand….is it hard when you need to change directions…with a lap hoop, I can just turn it to the right position….do you sometimes end up quilting towards yourself, or in a backwards direction?
I really need to get back to my ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas red work quilt….I put it away to work on some other things, but need to pull it back out….don’t think I can get it finished for this Christmas, but would like to at least finish up the quilt top….then I can hand quilt over the winter….
We had a lot of rain yesterday in Virginia….cloudy and overcast this morning, but more rain is coming this afternoon….I didn’t get my hand quilting finished yesterday but should finish up this afternoon on the wall hanging….will hopefully get the binding on this evening.
