Hexies and Rain

Handful of Scraps

Yesterday I finally got done with the power washing of the deck, porch, and sidewalk around the flower bed- it took all day as I had to do it in between rain storms.  I started in the morning and was ready to take a break as I shut the machine down I could hear thunder in the distance and it had been getting darker so I went in the house to take a much needed break and it started to pour and lots of thunder.  After lunch the sky turned blue again and it warmed up – I got back to work and I got done about an hour before another storm  – that  gave us about 2 inches of rain yesterday and washed all the dirt off that had flown all over the place from the spraying of the power washer.  My plants that had been near by really needed a wash down and I imagine all the trees and things needed a drink so that was fine.  I can tell after the rain that I missed places on the wood here and there, it is old wood, not all of the dirt is going to come off – but it is done for another year – I just wanted an improvement – I didn’t think it would all come off.  More rain off and on all week – glad I got that chore out of the way.

Cleaner than what it had been — but now wet.

Water all over the place, but it will soak in fast

Finally towards evening I got the last diamond for Handful of Scraps center piece finished.  Now to get more pieces cut and basted and start to join the center together.  Linking to Lorna’s Sew Fresh Quilts today and My Quilt Infatuation.

More on that tomorrow maybe – or maybe I will tackle those backings for the two quilts mentioned the other day.

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

Love those hexie diamonds. I can’t wait to see that quilt start to come together. We didn’t get much rain yesterday, but with rain in the forecast every day for the next week, I’m sure we’ll get plenty.

I’m anxious to watch your new hexie quilt come together. Very pretty. Your deck looks so nice and relaxing. We’ve had so much rain here in KY too. My garden is starting to show that we’ve had too much rain as well.

The rain showers have been avoiding/missing our place for days! Today it’s 80%-100% chance……..hmmmmmm, they’ve said that before. The lawns have more of a brown cast than green……..the up side is that mowing is put off for a couple more days!!!!!
The hexies look great. This will be a fun finish.

Oh, I hope we are done with rain for a while. Chris says he’s starting the power washing today. I’m looking forward to sitting on the back porch once it’s no longer covered in pollen!

Beautiful hexie diamonds! I love a good thunderstorm in the summer!! I recently finished scrubbing my deck clean, deciding I would not use the pressure washer. Hard work, but it’s so nice when it’s finished!

I ws looking at dark skies as I walked today so i chose to walk in the neighborhood rather than travel to the park. I figured I would get wet locally.

Deck looks good, i need to do the same.

Those hexies look so good, and I really like the diamond shapes you are making. Congrats on finishing the chore of deck cleaning – mine needs some TLC this summer. Hopefully this rain will move on for a few days and let us get some outside work done!

Love your decking Karen and what a WONDEFUL Barn at the end of the yard, what do you use that for. It looks so lovely all in wood, is it very old? Hugs Glenda

I must say, I am a teeny bit jealous of your porch. It looks so beautiful and serene. I would be sitting out there doing some hand stitching every evening. 🙂

Sounds like a very productive day, a big chore and stitching. Your hexies look great.
