Hexies Crazy

Craftsy, Handful of Scraps, Quilty 365 – The Final Frontier, Winter Wonderland

I was going to just cut all the pieces out for the next hexie diamond for Handful of Scraps and work on it later in the week and before you know it the evening was here and I was almost all the way done with the diamond!  These little things are addictive.  It was very hard to get the color to show up right for this one – the center is a very light lime green and it kept showing up as more of a white color – finally I got one to turn out although now that I look at it it looks yellow! trust me it is green.

Before I got started making the hexies I did cut the strips I need to square off the Final Frontier I just haven’t sat down at the machine to sew it.  These are 3.5 inches so it will be 3 inches finished about after the binding is on maybe a little less.  I had to press this fabric before I cut it and decided as I had the ironing board set up and the iron hot I would press the fabric needed for the next hexie diamond and that is what started the sewing yesterday. I just meant to press and cut the fabric needed! I had planned on sewing these border pieces in – maybe today?  I am linking to Lorna at Sew Fresh Quilts today and My Quilt Infatuation.

More work continues on Winter Wonderland and picked up here last night.

Yes, hexies are addictive. Once you get started, it is hard to stop!

Sewing hexies is definitely addicting! I’m thinking I’ll be working on my Martha Washington’s Flower Garden today … it is supposed to warm up some, so sitting out on the deck stitching hexagons sounds like a wonderful way to spend my afternoon. 😉

You are getting so much done! I’ve been getting some sewing done adding borders to a few small quilts. I have a “short list” of items to work on and soon will be left with all items to be quilted.

I want to train myself to put one on my long arm and get it done. So far I am quite the procrastinator!

You really are making great progress with all your projects in the works. I have not tried hexies yet.
Love your cutting table. Nice and big for those long cuts.

Love the hexies! And the Christmas quilt looks great, too. 🙂

Your hexies are certainly coming along nicely, Karen. Your needle must know it’s own way home! No need for holding the reins. Nice to see your Winter Wonderland progress. That is such a happy and festive quilt!
