A Hot Inside Type of Day

Postage Stamp Quilt, quilts, Wagon’s West (dresden plates), Winter Wonderland

Not much time spent outside yesterday – it started out kind of warm and continued throughout the day.  The plus side is the garden is starting to produce and I have a few zucchini and yellow squash picked – green beans are covered in blossoms and I can see tiny green beans beginning.  Several tomatoes are now light orange as well.

The version of the disappearing nine patch that I showed yesterday didn’t quite have the look I wanted so I changed my mind and turned pieces a bit and ended up with this – this is not the final layout – this is just slapping them up on the wall while I am making more!  I will go with baby size or couch size and if there are leftover blocks from what I already have cut they will go towards a baby quilt.  This is just something easy to use up some pieces, not think a lot about it and have another quilt put aside for when needed to give away for a charity type of thing.,

Thank you Vicki from Color Ways by Vicki Welsh (formerly Field Trips in Fiber) for sending me a package of Misty Fuse to try out with the wool applique.  I tried it on this cluster of flowers and they are all pressed down while I am now working the embroidery and they didn’t fall off all day so maybe it will work – the needle is not sticky in the least.  When I get done with this cluster I will update on how I liked working with it – thank you Vicki!  I am linking to Kathy’s Quilts: Slow Sunday Stitching and will be getting in some embroidery stitch time and maybe some hexies as well.

Two sides of the binding are now finished on Winter Wonderland – yes it is a wonder that I will ever finish it – I have just not been sitting that long lately to work on binding and it is too warm outside to drag this out there on the porch.   It will get done but there has been no rush – this is a winter quilt design so have no desire to get it on the bed right now.

Wagons West continues to have progress I do sit almost every evening to do some hand quilting.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.  Has anyone taken one of Edyta Sitar’s Craftsy classes? I’m wondering if I should get one – her newest looks interesting.

All of Craftsy classes are on sale for $19.99 or less through June 13th.  If you have been thinking about any classes in particular now is the time to get them.  Visit Craftsy now

Love the Wagon’s West quilting! I have always lap quilted and now have my first quilt ever on the quilting frame and am loving quilting it there! Why I waited so long is beyond me! I can’t seem to walk away from it and find myself there in the middle of the day quilting rather than the evenings when I planned for my frame time! Ha! And I know those home grown tomatoes are good-much better than store bought!

Seeing your quilt on the frame makes me wish I had something to hand-quilt at the moment!

You will be finished with Winter Wonderland in no time. It is beautiful as is your Wagon’s West quilt. I’ve not heard of Misty Fuse and will look for it the next time I’m in a quilt shop as I’m not happy with what I’ve used on my wool applique. I look forward to your review.

Love the look of your blocks on the design wall….
    Wagons West is looking great!
I love fresh veggies…just cannot beat them…in the summertime, I could easily be a vegetarian!!
We are in the 90’s here in Virginia today, so I will be working on some hand piecing this afternoon….and still cutting squares for my nine patch…I am cutting them 2 inches, so I need a lot of them!! I didn’t have very many already cut that size.

Too hot here to get outside. I have baby tomatoes, but no green bean or cucumber blossoms yet.
