Back to Progress

Handful of Scraps, quilts, Wagon’s West (dresden plates)

Butterfly Parade quilt top is finished!  now on to quilting it.  Right now it has finished at 43 x 49 inches – I know a bit smaller than some of you thought it would be but keep in mind my design wall might be smaller than some of you think it is 94 x 80 so before the seams were all put in, it was taking up a bit of space.  I will machine quilt it simply – maybe a straight line through the 4 patches and — then something!  I will figure it out when I get to it.  I do think I will add a narrow border to it before I get started quilting, just something to be able to square it all up a bit without cutting into seams.  I don’t want to cut into the half square triangle points and they are not all perfectly even right now – but once I put a narrow border on I can square that part up without it being as noticeable.  I need to look through the shelves and see what I have – the white that is already in use or a print?  I think the white would be better but first I will look.

A little more progress on Wagon’s West – I’m working on the block on the right side right now.  Linking up to Esther’s Blog today and Lorna’s Sew Fresh Quilts and to Quilt Fabrication and My Quilt Infatuation.

Mindless work, thread basting hexies for Handful of Scraps.

I’m glad I found a use for the Frivol’s Containers that I have.

and a second one for the “flowers” which will be neatly stacked to begin with also as I get more of the colors chosen.

I think the white or something very very pale because this has a soft dreamy look to it.

You finished this too quickly. You should probably do an applique border of incredibly difficult to sew butterflies and stretch it out a bit, HA HA! 🙂

Very pretty! I always cut off at least one triangle point. It’s not a proper quilt without it. I agree, it needs a soft print or a white border so it won’t compete with the lovely piecing. Love the wagon wheels, too! And good for you for finding a use for those silly containers!

Clever idea for the frivols tins — I’ve been trying to think of how to reuse them! Your quilts are lovely!
