Hexies and Quilting

Handful of Scraps, Wagon’s West (dresden plates)

I didn’t get done with a lot yesterday as we went to the family picnic in Northwest Arkansas a 2 and 1/2 hour drive from us – worth it because of being able to get together with family – yesterday though was sweltering 95 degrees under the shade trees and not all showed up and although we had a good time visiting I think we all agreed by 6 that we had it with the heat and most of us left.  It is always so nice being able to visit though and keep in touch.  I wish I lived a little closer so it would be easier to visit.  We chugged cold bottles of water and had hot dogs and hamburgers, plenty of veggie trays and fruit, chips and cookies.

In the morning before we left I got one hexie flower basted to work on for Handful of Scraps.

Let’s see what I get done with on Sunday as I do believe the hot weather continues.  We will see.  I am linking to Quilting is More Fun then Housework today and of course Kathy’s Quilts: Slow Sunday Stitching.  I have to get in some slow stitching every day and on Sunday I can take extra time to catch up on the other slow stitching people out there in blog land.

I never know how many of you are interested in the notifications about the Craftsy sale but I do hear from some of you that you like the reminders so here is letting you know the sale ends tonight at midnight!

Craftsy is having a Christmas in July Sale!!!!    And that means it’s time to start thinking about all the incredible handmade gifts you’re going to give come December. So to make things a little easier, up to 60% off kits and supplies. Get everything you need to make something that’s for the holidays and from the heart. Sale goes through  Sunday night the 24th!  I noticed that the Fossil Fern fabric is now on clearance I wasn’t sure if that meant they were totally discontinuing so I asked and was told they are clearing it out – if you want to stock up on Fossil Ferns now will be a good time to do it.  I am so glad I have already purchased all I needed to finish up my quilt The Final Frontier and have the backing fabric to match up with it or I would be searching.

It feels like a jungle here this morning…we had a drenching rain early evening with a few thunderstorms moving through but it’s just more humid now

Enjoy your stitching today / keep cool 🙂

It’s hot here too! That’s when a large quilting frame really comes in handy to keep the quilt off your lap! Great to see the Wagons West progress!

The quilting on your Wagon’s West is coming right along. I love making hexies and your hexies are so pretty with all the bright colors. Hope you get some relief from the heat. We are still cool here in the Pacific Northwest, but it is starting to warm up some.

Hubby and I tried to go to a local church’s summer fair last night, but we walked right through because it was just too darn hot. Your hexies look great and quilting is very pretty.

Ooh Karen that sounds wonderful despite the heat. 2 and a half hours travelling is perfect for some EPP – though I can’t imagine what it’s like to drive in that heat! Love your Wagons West, such beautiful quilting. Hope you have a good week and it gets a little cooler for you 🙂
