A Little On The Wool

Handful of Scraps, Postage Stamp Quilt, Quilty 365 – The Final Frontier

Let the Games Begin!  My routine while the Olympics are on tv goes a little different than normal – less time at the hand quilting frame and more time in front of the tv with hand stitching.  I will probably do some quilting in the daytime instead.  I do not watch all of the games but I like to tune in to see what is happening from time to time.  Good luck to all the various countries of my readers!

First thanks for all the comments yesterday on the finish of Wagon’s West, I started to answer them all and then lost track and I know I missed some of you – thanks!

I spent time working on the last cluster of flowers for this border of the Postage Stamp Quilt (one more border to go).

A little work on the neutrals for Handful of Scraps – the green flower is the area I am working in.  I need to cut and baste more neutrals this week.

It got up  close to 100 degrees for about the 3 or 4th day in a row – I spent time in the sewing room cutting more scrappy bricks and getting some stitching done.  I do believe I have 508 units done and need 636 units.  Getting there – I have a lot more stacked and ready to sew so it won’t take long – I need to get some pressing done as well.

And the quilting on The Final Frontier from Friday night – I finished on this end and went back to the middle to start stitching out to the right side of the quilt.  Sometimes the quilting shows up better without the flash and just the light from the quilting frame aimed on it so the colors look a little different possibly. (edited: 8:25AM just noticed I did not echo quilt the burgundy square around the two circles – have made a note of that and will get that fixed before more quilting takes place!)

Another angle.

A nice variety here and the quilting is lovely. Whew you have some high temps going on. Right now it’s about 75 and rising but extremely humid after some heavy rain…the little grandson is going to be covered in mud when I pick him up after football practice this morning 🙂

The temps have fallen as has the humidity! Glorious! Camera flash off and angled lighting seems to be the secret to casting those necessary shadows. Gorgeous stitching!!! Stay “cool”………………..

Noticing the fine hand quilting stitches around the little blocks of circle inside squares.. .. such a pleasure to see… I am hand quilting little pin cushions.. but with big stitches of #5 perle cotton.. As long as there is quilting done by hand.. I am into it and I check your blog frequently just to see the quilting…
