Piecing and Quilting

quilts, Quilty 365 – The Final Frontier

I did get some piecing on Hopscotch done but not as much as I had thought I would.  We did get a bit of work done outside again too on our project.  This will be very slow going – we aren’t 25 any more!!  Tend to do the shoveling and lifting of rocks in 30 minutes spells and then an hour break LOL.  Instead of going in and sewing though I was sitting on the porch reading.  Although humidity had increased today it stayed in the 70’s well into the afternoon before it went up to 85.

Two more rows of Hopscotch sewed together and I hope to get this section sewed to the top today and get working on the final two rows – I just about have another queen size quilt pieced and ready to move on to the quilting sometime in the future!  A lot of scraps used and a ton more to go!  I am linking to Lorna’s Sew Fresh Quilts and  Quilt Fabrication: Midweek Makers.

Is everyone in the US as sick of politics as I am?  I am actually almost to the point that I do not even no if I will vote this year – but then I tell myself I have to – just to make sure that the worst candidate doesn’t get in office!!!  But at this point I think very little of either.  And no please really do not tell me your view – I just had to vent for a second – I think we are all disgusted with it.

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

In my country decades ago when we are very poor, we often take small pieces of garments to make the blankets like this, but your piece is more sophisticated than what we had. This post recall and touch my memories of those hard days. Thank you,
    Nicky

I’ve been spending more time outside working, too, less time at the machine. I love summer! I hate politics, esp. what’s going on right now. I find it embarrassing to be an American guest in Canada right now! 😉 XO

I agree about the politics and not wanting to vote this year. I hear this statement from a LOT of people. It is so sad. Your Hopscotch is coming along nicely. She is so pretty. Blessings, Gretchen

I’m sick of politics, too, even though I’m secretary of our local party committee. I didn’t watch the conventions as they just make me upset. I’d rather be reading! I have decided to focus on the local elections since the two candidates for Governor are reasonable and a friend is running for reelection to the VT House. It’s all a bit calmer.

I know what you mean about work half an hour, then rest an hour – me, too. I need to clean out the garage. I’ve done it in fits and starts, but it could use a session of taking everything out and then putting it all back in. Ugh!

    Hi Karen
We are enjoying a cool down with low humidity also. The humidity is expected to start creeping back up tomorrow, but it has been a nice reprise.
I feel the exact same way with this year’s election and it seems to be the sentiment of many people this year. I have been leaving the tv off and not even watching the news lately as I just can’t stand it.
I enjoy seeing your progress as you work through your different projects.

I understand completely about doing 30 minutes of yard work and resting/reading for 60 minutes!!! I have been trying to cut down our hedge, which is really overgrown, and I do the same thing……cut/saw a little and rest a lot!!!
I am, also, trying to decide which candidate to vote for……it seems to come down to which candidate I want to keep OUT of office, not which candidate do I want to see IN.

For the first time in my life, I am considering the unthinkable: not voting. Are these two the best we have? Goodness! So tired of it all that I no longer watch the morning news which is a ritual for me.

I know the feeling….work a bit and rest. But isn’t that the right way to do it? I am so happy the horrible heat has lifted and I can go outside again…sit on the deck and read or sew! I’m sad and scared for our country, and embarrassed. I hate the idea of voting for the lesser of evils…it makes me also think about not voting, but I know that would not be right. Enjoy your day of sewing!

Oh my, you and me both on the politics!! It’s a loooong time until Election Day. Ugh! Ugh! Ugh!

The hot weather is returning here today and tomorrow, but then it’s going to cool back down.

‘We aren’t 25 anymore’ is so true! I was thinking the same these past two weekends as we rebuilt our gazebo. It lasted 15 years, and if it lasts another 15-20, then I’ll be around 70 when time to rebuild it again. Don’t think that’s happening again!

This has been the weirdest election year ever. Disgusted is a good word. But on the bright side, the quilting goes on no matter who is in the White House! Yay! 🙂

I love that I have my sewing to keep me busy and wonderful blogs like yours to view.
I’ve decided not to cast a vote for president this election neither one is worth my vote. I will vote for or against on the rest of the ballot. I do want my none vote to show up on the statistics. I also have refused to talk presidential politics leading up to this election again not worth my time or breath.
It’s sewing for me or weather or how the crops are growing harvest time yet?

While traveling, I am getting a break from watching and listening to politics-a much needed break! I also found the best little quilt shop and happened upon the prettiest felted wool pieces and what a price! So good I got 11 scrumptious colors to start off with! If I had room I would have a load of fabric! But alas in a camper I had to leave room for those projects I brought to work on! Loving the Hopscotch!

Love working outdoors but our vegetable garden is much too big. The plan is to make it smaller next year. The garden, including the weeds, doesn’t stop growing whether it is 100 degrees or 60 degrees. Some days it is so hot. The vegetables we love, tomatoes and squash, are not doing well so it has been a little discouraging. I can work in the garden about an hour and then have to retreat to indoor projects. Your outdoor project is very labor intensive. Glad to hear you are taking it slow.

Really enjoy reading your blog. Love watching your progress.
