Quilting on the circles for The Final Frontier has begun – you all knew I would have to jump right in on this project I’m sure. I will get to the binding on Wagon’s West this week also but I didn’t touch it yesterday. I had to raise my hands way over my head with the camera to get this full shot – either that or go find a stool to climb up on. For now I decided to work in the middle and work my way out to the left then go back to the middle and work to the right. I don’t always do this but just felt like it right now.
One inch lines on the outer border leaving a half inch for squaring up time. A row of stitching up the middle of the sashing, outline the circles closely and then about a quarter inch out. Go around the squares – well I do more – I’m not really sure – if I do it might be a straight line in the corner of each block from the points to the outer ring of stitches around the circles. I think I will try one to see if I like it. It might not work out as not all the circles are placed in the center and some are small – we will see.
I mark as I go for the blue one inch lines and for the circles I make a tiny dot a quarter inch out here and there until I start to eye ball it a little better. The half square triangles along the outer border I am marking a half inch inside for the triangle inside the area. Linking to Esther’s Quilt Blog today.
