Handful of Scraps

Handful of Scraps, Quilty 365 – The Final Frontier

Yesterday on a lazy Sunday I was able to finish piecing the big section that was needed to be attached to the Handful of Scraps quilt – there is still so much more to do on this quilt.  All of the papers except the final outside row are out of the quilt making it easier to handle.  I have at least two large sections of neutral hexies to connect now and get back to work making more and more “flowers” but it is nice to know that what is on the wall is now all connected into one large piece.

Other than hexies it was The Final Frontier that was worked on – these areas in the next three photos have been worked on the last 3 nights or so.  I am linking to Em’s Scrapbag: Moving it Forward Monday, &    Cooking Up Quilts:MCM #37 & A Patchwork Times.

Quilting is remaining very simple on this quilt, up the middle of the sashing and around the circles and then again in an echo, once around the square.  Here and there with blocks of one small circle is there is a fossil fern leaf it gets quilted around as well.  If a large circle has a small circle on it then I quilt around the small circle also.

Thanks for all the compliments on The Postage Stamp Quilt yesterday – I do love this scrappy quilt and I think it will be one of my very favorites that I have.

I am working on a tiny table runner made in hexies right now. So to see your large one I can’t fathom the time it must take you.

Always love seeing the progress on Handful of Scraps, Karen! I did a quick count and it looks like you are at 530 hexies! I really like the fabrics you are using ….
Your quilting on Final Frontier is looking great! Love how you are adding something extra on some of the blocks, where you have a leaf, or smaller circles…

I can’t imagine having the patience to piece all those hexies. What a beautiful quilt that will be! I also really admire the lovely quilting on your circle quilt.

Dear Karen it does not matter how often I see those circles I fall in love again and again with them, how they glow, and now your quilting is making them even more lovely. Hugs Glenda
