Handful of Scraps, Postage Stamp Quilt, Quilty 365 – The Final Frontier

I know I said I was only going to work on the Halloween Tote Bag for the kid but I haven’t been able to force myself to do so.  I did find a green for the witches face – but then I got started on other things – you can tell that quilting is all I am interested in when you take sewing into the equation.  I think this light green should work out well for the face – I’ll find little bits for the mouth and eyes still and maybe a yellow for the band around the hat or I might just leave the band off and have it be a plain black hat.

The next flower cluster for the Postage Stamp border is stapled in place and ready to stitch.

the other part that is finished.  I might stick a small butterfly in between these two clusters of flowers.  The next area between flowers is larger and I will stick another bird in there and maybe a bee if I can cut one out right.  I am not using patterns for these flowers – I get ideas for the birds and flowers from the wall hanging in the book that the idea for this border originally came from but I have been free form cutting – making them up as I cut.

I got one more short row put together for the hexies today and have three more rows to make before I move to the next big area of neutrals as I have more flower clusters to make too.

You have some time (over a month) before that Halloween goodie bag is needed… so enjoy collecting fabrics from your stash until you get inspired to start it! 🙂 I love the idea of green for her face and that green looks PERFECT for it! lol
Lovely work on your other projects too! Glad you had such a productive day inside 🙂

I know – no rush, I wanted to get it done though and out of the way

I drag my feet when I have a deadline. I guess after years of working with them, I just don’t like them! A lady asked me last spring if I would make a tote bag for her daughter. No hurry she said, she’d get back to me. It is now half-way thru Sept. and when I saw her yesterday she said she wants it for mid=Dec. But she doesn’t have the fabric together yet. I am beginning to worry that I won’t have a lot of time. Guess I will have to pressure her to get the fabric to me soon and explain more what she would like.

I know it won’t take long to get this bag done once I get started, it is simple to do, it is getting started that is slow for me

What fun projects you are working on. It is always a good thing to get things done early especially those one doesn’t really want to do. However, I don’t always live by those rules,LOL

LOL – I know what you mean – I think I have to get this tote bag for the little one done before I get side tracked

You will get the Halloween bag in plenty of time….I am sure of it!!
Love that tin with all the hexies inside!!
Karen, I have to ask…..in yesterday’s post, did you say the hexies for the border on Williamsburg Beauty will be half inch? If so, that is really really small….would be too small for me! I will be anxious to hear how you deal with the seam allowance on such a small hexie…..I think your idea for the border on Williamsburg Beauty sounds great and I am looking forward to seeing it come together!
We are having another great day here in Virginia….high in low 80’s, low humidity….some much needed rain is coming in a couple of days, so I will be outside today and tomorrow, getting some trimming and weeding taken care of before the rain comes.

the 1/2 inch hexagons will be EPP, heat press, take papers out, glue in place and appliqued – when it comes time to quilt the quilting will be around the outside of the pieces so it doesn’t matter the thickness on the back – I answered Sandra privately as we correspond on a regular basis but I thought some of you might be wondering about the 1/2 hexies
