More Work on Hexies

Handful of Scraps, Quilty 365 – The Final Frontier

We were busy with outside work yesterday so I didn’t get much sewing done.  Glad I had my hexies in the box already cut out and basted so when I was taking a break I could work on them.  One hexie flower got done for Handful of Scraps!

I had to move things on the design wall a little bit so I will have room to work out from around the center.  I will still not have room on the left side so eventually I will need to take Williamsburg Beauty down for awhile or vice versa.   The dark hexie flower on the right side is the new one.  It might get moved before I am satisfied – I’m just making some and putting them up on the wall and will move as needed as I get more done.  I don’t think this is up on the wall evenly – looks slightly crooked but I will be taking it on and off the wall so much it doesn’t really matter.

Another basted last night – the pink/coral doesn’t show true to color on my screen.  I always notice that the color is so much better on my Ipad then it is on my laptop.  I wonder what you all will see on your screens.  Linking to Confessions of a Fabric Addict today and Fort Worth Fabric Studio and Crazy Mom Quilts.

I rolled The Final Frontier down Wednesday night and started on the left side.  Another couple times of rolling the quilt down and the end will be in sight.  Before I rolled it down I checked by unrolling the top – I knew I was getting close but it is closer than I thought.

Good luck to everyone along the southeast end of the coast line of the US – one of my younger brother’s daughter goes to college in St. Augustine – it was decided that she was leaving yesterday morning and driving to Tampa to stay with friends on the other side of the state – glad to say she made it ok – I hope everyone else in the area has left to safety –one of my readers Kathi from Design Originals has left her area of Daytona Beach for Alabama so lets all hope her house well be there still when she and family return.  It looks like Hurricane Matthew is going to be a bad one.

I know I say this all the time, but you amaze me with how much you get done! Those hexies will be done before we know it! My oldest, wife, baby and her family were all on Hilton Head for the week and they’re trip got cut short. They said it was pretty crazy getting out of there. It sounds like the storm might be a little less severe than they thought which would be a great thing!

yes it does sound like the storm might be less than thought – it must be so hard to predict whether people should leave or not – better to be safe than sorry.
Yes I get done with a bit – but I don’t work outside the home and no kids here underfoot (or pets) other than reading I don’t really have any other hobbies than quilting and the occasional yard work

Karen, we left our home this morning at 9 a.m. as a precaution. We are on the coast of GA right at the FL line. Drove 60 miles inland to our daughter’s home and it is raining hard there now. For the last 2 days, we have only had a mist. I always think of people back when they only had a horse or two and absolutely no warning of storms and hurricanes. Our concern on our street is flooding.

hope all will be ok when you get home Brooxie – so much storm surge is expected glad you are safe at your daughters home.

Thanks for including me in a shout out on your blog! I am glad your niece had a safe and closer place to stay… I don’t recall us chatting via email about her. Hope her place stayed safe though. It was such a blur of days there between prep for, evacuation from, and returning to our town in total dissaray! Planning to post soon on all this!
I find natural or a white fluorescent bulb gives me best light/color for photos… I usually back off for the shot then crop for the close up… ? Kathi. P.s. Your final frontier quilting really helped when we were away!
