More Show Quilts

I have been getting caught up today from all that you have to do when you get home even if it is a short trip.  The laundry is done & the grocery shopping.  I vacuumed and washed the kitchen floor which should have been done before I left and wasn’t.  The bathroom still needs to be cleaned but I think I will wait for tomorrow.  I ordered Carolyn Konig’s book “Creating Herilooms” which has her version of Mrs. Billings in it from the Quiltmania site – I am not sure what year this book was published , so much more in my budget than the quilt pattern with all the papers and the acrylic templates.  By copying the pages of the templates I should be able to make my own – we will see as I have no idea right now when it would even be started!!

I have not done any quilting today – I wanted to get caught up first on all the household chores and finishing posting some photos from the show.

This is a beautiful quilt by Megan Farkas of Sanbornton, New Hampshire – she saw a photo of a Persian Tile Mosaic and turned it into a quilt – it is Hand Appliqued and Hand quilted wonderful work.

An Art Quilt by Trish Morris-Plise and quilted by Sandra Bruce from California, wonderful work.

A beautiful quilt from Japan once again – this one is called Winter Memories by Chieko Shiraishi  it was inspired by the Little House on Prairie books it is Hand Applique, hand embellishing, and Hand quilted.

And I hope I got the right sign to go with this Dear Jane quilt – called “An Out of Hand Experience” by Bonnie Robottom from Calgary, Alberta, Canada and quilted by Sharon Blackmore.  It is mixed technique quilt both by hand and machine.

I have more photos than I thought and maybe I will share more over the next couple days – now I think I need to sit down and work on one of my own quilts!!

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

Thanks for sharing the photos. I have Creating Heirlooms by Carolyn Konig. She has some lovely quilts in there. Is Hertfordshire Quilt the Mrs. Billings quilt? I look forward to seeing what fabrics you pull for her. Blessings, Gretchen

Yes Hertfordshire Quilt is also Mrs. Billings. I believe Carolyn’s version is closer to the original and doesn’t have the row of hexies around close to the center – right now no plans to start – I will have to look fabric over really well for it – small prints will most likely be best.

Karen, I’ve been making the Herefordshire quilt from Carolyn’s book in fact I’m making another of hers from the book also. I’ve completed all but the last border and I have done it all by machine. I’m not sure I will be able to do that last round on the machine, but I’m going to give it a go. If I’m not able I will change that one border. I don’t enjoy EPP and machine piecing has worked very well for me.

yes I have been looking it over from photos I have seen on pinterest and it looks like a lot of it can be done by machine – we will see what I think when I get the book
