Scrappy Stars and Other Things

Postage Stamp Quilt, scrap quilts, sewing room

Yesterday I had an appointment in Little Rock but not until late afternoon so I was able to work on a few things.  First I got out my box of scrappy stars and got to work.  The two inch blocks that I am using in the box.

Two more made.  If I do queen size I need a whole lot more – these are about 12 inches.

Finished this side of the Postage Stamp quilt and rolled it down on Tuesday night.

And got started on this side.

The whole thing – the quilt hanging over the end is the Hopscotch quilt – it is ready to machine quilt but I am waiting until after Thanksgiving to get started.

One reader – another Karen from Tu-Na quilts suggested that I just pull the table out and leave the leaf up on the back of the table to give me room but leave it in the same spot it always is in – The only problem with doing that is the narrow room – I put the chair by the quilting frame so you could see the space in the room available if I do that.  The larger cutting mat resting against the wall does fit the table and covers most of the space if I decide to do that – I’m just not sure if I like it pulled out into the room like that – I’m not used to it of course – I might leave it for a day or two and see if I get used to it with time – it does give my table an extra 11.5 inches of available space to use if I leave it out.

If I decide to leave it out there is an extra 11.5 inches of space behind the table then that some things could be stored there of course and maybe out from under the quilting frame! – I can not turn my sewing machine table to rest next to it as that would stick even further out in the room it is 47.5 inches a good 10 inches longer.  I do not want to push the cutting table all the way resting against the design wall as that would take away a bit of space there.  And that is where I leave it off yesterday – looking at it and trying to decide if I can get used to it sticking out LOL – we will see what happens!!  Because I wasn’t home I was answering some comments on my phone while waiting for my doctor appointment (rheumatologist – routine check up) I feel that I missed some of you so if it was anything important let me know!  I am linking to Sew Fresh Quilts , Quilt Fabrication: Midweek Makers, Jo’s Country Junction and My Quilt Infatuation.

Having internet issues, so I didn’t get to comment on your “clean up and organize” post yesterday….looks great!
Don’t you love your new book … “When the Cold Wind Blows”? I love the quilts in that book….
Love how your scrappy stars are coming along!
I hope you and your family have a great Thanksgiving tomorrow!

I am so glad I got that book – I am being really picky with books this year and only purchasing books that have 2 or more patterns in it that I feel I will use. I really love some of the applique in this book – I love the big pieces knowing they will stitch faster than the blocks with tiny pieces that I have done. Have a good thanksgiving – it will be a small gathering this year for us just 4 and then only for part of the day as there is Ric’s side of the family for Melanie and Ric to go to also. Jessica and family came from Wisconsin last year making our group expand to 8 but not this year.

Could you put casters on the bottom of your cutting table legs? That way you can easily pull it out and extend the back when cutting, and also easily roll it back into place when done. Just a thought.

no I can’t put casters on the bottom of the legs of the table, for some reason the bottom of the front legs come to almost a point – they are not square cut – I do have sliders under them though and that makes it much easier to move – it is all the stuff I keep in back of the table and under the table that get in the way from being easily taken away from the wall.
