Scrappy Stars Are Growing

Postage Stamp Quilt, scrap quilts

The last couple days my collection of Scrappy Stars have taken off running.  They are so easy to make once you get into a good chain piecing mode.  I have them stacking up in one project box but I have a feeling I will need two boxes before I am done.

Twenty-five in this box I’m sure I can fit a lot more in here but they will get squished after awhile.  These are at 12 inches so will be 11.5 finished I am squaring up as I go.  My piecing is never perfect – they should be 12 inches finished LOL – who cares!

All laid out on the floor right now.  Estimate this would be finished size right now at 57.5 inches – a bit more to go to be queen size and lots of scraps still to play with.  I am using a variety of white scraps and a variety of aqua scraps – although the aqua scraps are about used up and I will then need to go to yardage that I have on the shelf from a previous quilt that changed from a 80 x 80 to a table topper LOL – yes changed my mind on that one and I have been using a dark and light aqua for numerous projects since then and it has become my favorite color to use in scrappy quilts I think.  Linking to Quilt Story: Fabric Tuesday and Esther’s Quilt Blog.

Left off on this area to quilt on The Postage Stamp quilt Sunday night so I think this section will be quilted last night and be ready to roll down – these squares are much easier to quilt through then I thought they would be – with all those seams I wondered.

Thank you all that ordered any products from Craftsy and Accuquilt from the Thanksgiving sale – I’m sure even though that sale is over that there will most likely be one coming up in December before Christmas for anyone that missed out on it.

Be on the look out for an upcoming Give Away on this blog – it is time – I haven’t had one in a long time – maybe next week? We will see – maybe 3 prizes and 3 winners!

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

I saw a great quilt that used similar stars. It had half square triangles that were used to form a Barn Raising setting. If I run across it again I’ll share the link.

Glad to hear I am not the only one who doesn’t have perfect blocks and trims them down. Looking good.

LOL I am a horrible piecer – I rarely have a perfect block!

Nice layout on your floor… and your expanded cutting table seems to be working out ok. Always glad to have your daily post each morning with my coffee…. Thanks for your time and energy. Quilting and reading quilting posts is my post-election therapy.

I still don’t like how the cutting table extends out so much in the room but the extra space sure is coming in handy – I will probably leave it like this for awhile thanks for being a reader!

Love how those scrappy stars are growing!! Aqua is a favorite color of mine, as well….
Thanks for sharing the recipe yesterday for your chicken noodle soup…sounds delicious! Today is a rainy day in Virginia…temperatures are very mild, but it is still chilly in the house….This morning I started the crock pot for a batch of navy bean soup…the house smells so good! Cannot wait for dinner time!!
    Your giveaway sounds great!!

I don’t care for bean or pea soup but most others I like – well be getting chilly here the rest of the week – no stars made today!

I really like how your postage stamp quilt is turning out! I am wondering, though, how you are resisting doing a second zigzag to make each little square have an ‘X’ through it?! My ocd would make me ‘finish’ the quilting….

    • Karen Nov 29, 2016

I never even thought to do another zig zag in the opposite direction – lol – I didn’t want to go over board with the quilting and I thought it suited it just right 🙂

Your mention and recipe for chicken noodle soup yesterday got me to thinking about soup today. When I was at the market they had pre-mixed stuffing vegetables made with onions celery and spices so I bought that along chicken and carrots …..noodles would have been so nice but I (for medical reasons) must limit my carbohydrate intake I miss bread noodles cookies well so many baked foods
Any way my simple soup was quick to make and yummy

    • Karen Nov 30, 2016

I would miss carbs if I had to limit them do brown rice or quinoa count also? if not a small handful cooked in would be good.

I love scrappy. I was blessed to be contacted to do a review for Creative Options and I got to choose which storage I wanted them to send me. I chose the box like you have your blocks in. I was super blessed that they didn’t just send me one box, but 4 of them!!
