Hopscotch Coming Along

scrap quilts

This quilt really is moving along even though I keep thinking I should be done with it by now  – I have really only been sitting at the machine with it for 4 days now – I can say I am almost 3/4’s of the way done!!  this part shown is all the way done —

This much left to do on this half – and then I can say it is 3/4’s done for sure.  I will get to this section this morning and then try to tackle the other side in the afternoon.

I have also been steadily working on the Snowman stitchery with wool as I sit and watch the news or other tv shows in the evening.  Four more leaves to finish on the right side and then add the veins to them.  In the book there is also a sprig of embroidery stems and mistletoe leafs above the bird – I do not know if I will add that part.  This little hanging hasn’t turned out the best – but I’m not displeased with it totally.  I have been neglecting other projects while I finish up these two projects that I show today – but I will get back to the Retro Air Ship Propellers, the Handful of Scraps Hexie quilt, The Scrappy Baskets, The Scrappy Stars and whatever else is laying around LOL and clean/organize the sewing room again – as soon as I finish these two!!!!  It will be so nice though to have gotten more finished before the end of the year.  Linking to Tweety Loves Quilting today.

I won this pretty butter dish in a give away while I was holding my own – this is from Summer  at Summer Daisy Cottage – not a quilting blog – Summer is from Jamaica and has beautiful photography on her blog.   Thank you Summer for the win!  Speaking of give away’s I went to the post office today and got the packages mailed off to my winners – the post worker said give it a couple weeks for those that went out of the country and to Alaska about a week – so keep a look out for your packages.

Craftsy is having a 12 day of Christmas sales – Sale ends Monday the 12th of December.  Don’t know what the sale will be day to day so stop and check if you wish.  And just ignore these messages if you are not interested!  Top 200 classes under $20, more kits and supplies 40-60% off – check out the quilt kits more sales going on there – the yardage in some of those kits is pretty good if you don’t like the pattern you might like the fabric.

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

thanks – I never really enjoy machine quilting but it sure is getting this very large quilt finished fast – I know hand quilting it would have taken 3 months at minimum and will be done in a week instead

A lot of ‘pretties’ shown today… the quilt is a sparkler.. a twinkler… patchy scrappy pretty…. The butter dish is such a dear..the colors are cheerful.. and butter dishes, just by themselves are kind of cheery……. and being unhappy with Frosty would take some nerve … laughing… he looks like he would be pleasant company.

the main thing I was unhappy with for the snowman is that the cake plate he is standing on it is crooked! over all it is all good and if you do not know it is crooked then it doesn’t matter!

When you say you are half done do you mean you start and stop mid point in a row or you complete the full row across the quilt. If you go half way across the row how do you stop and start mid way

I probably didn’t state that clearly – I start the quilt in the middle and do a full line all the way down and work towards the outside of the quilt working all the lines from top to bottom – in that respect I do half of the quilt at a time I guess you could say. I always work from the top/middle working out so I only have half of the quilt in the throat area of the machine at a time. When I got done with the lines all going in the same direction across the width of the quilt then I turned the quilt and start on the length of the quilt again starting at the middle of the quilt but at the top again if you understand what I mean?

Oh my gosh, so many projects going on, my head is spinning! You deserve to rest Karen. Love the simple quilting, I always enjoy a quilt quilted like this, so pretty.

yes I know way too many going on at one time it seems – but I am glad to have made a few more finishes this month – Start the New Year out with some scrappy quilt projects and well pick out one applique maybe to do that will take a year or so most likely
