Hopscotch Done

scrap quilts

tn_FreeVintageImagesofChristmasClipArt43_jpgYes finally I got the binding finished on Hopscotch, the quilt is washed and dried and wow it shrunk a lot more than I would have thought – the quilting is not so extensive that it I wouldn’t have thought it would do that – I’m pretty sure the batting was Hobb’s Heirloom cotton.  I have it on the bed for an extra quilt for a couple nights but I think this one will be handed off to someone with a full size bed  – size is not right for a queen.  Ended at 81 x 94 – I did wash and then dry on high not thinking to change my heat to medium so my fault.  As you can see it is not pulled all the way to the top of the bed and going across the bed was meant to be the length but then not wide enough!  Oh well, I never really intended to keep this one anyhow.

Look what I received in the mail today!!  Two pair of hand knit wool socks from my blogger friend in Germany, Gabriele – Gabriele sent me a pair of these about two or three years ago and they keep my feet so warm in the winter I wear them so often and they show no signs of wear they are so strongly made. Gabriele’s blog is in German but with the help of the translator I can keep up with her.  She reviews books, she knits socks, she makes quilts.  Thank you Gabriele!

I have added more baskets to my scrappy baskets quilt.  My blocks are not up on the wall quite straight at first I thought my baskets were crooked then realized the blocks are not straight.  I will do some Slow Sunday Stitching with Kathy and all those that love hand stitching today while staying inside out of the cold weather.

I will be waiting until after Christmas to get a frame made for my snowman wool applique piece, I have not been able to find a frame the right size and the framers are too busy right now – the snowman can be hung all winter so not necessarily a Christmas piece.

Hard to believe only one week until Christmas the time has flown this month.  I will have no more finishes this year!!  Sometime in the last days of the year I do a post on all I have finished for the year – I like to keep track for me  I think I completed 11 or 12 quilts/toppers/baby’s and queens.  I have to go through the blog posts and my lists to see what I have.

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

I love these socks – as I told Gabriele they are best socks I have ever had for winter – I really wish I had someone here to teach me how to knit socks but I don’t 🙁 but now I have 3 pair and that will last me awhile for sure!

I wish I had someone here to teach me how to make socks – I have to really sit and watch and have someone show me – I will try more videos but usually they go so fast and I hate constant replay

Hopscotch is so pretty! I would have a hard time giving it away. And your snowman applique is adorable! I love the mittens hanging from the ivy branches.

the socks are cozy and warm – very chilly day and even when I took a walk outside for 20 minutes in the 28 degree weather my feet were not cold – I did have my lined boots on too – but they stayed warm!
