Not Much Sewing

Handful of Scraps, Postage Stamp Quilt

tn_FreeVintageImagesofChristmasClipArt43_jpgLittle has been done in the sewing department it seems this week.  Yesterday I worked on one hexie flower for the Handful of Scraps quilt and got some work done on one present that I can’t show.  I met Melanie and I got Aniya’s Xmas present taken care of and we went to three stores and were pretty much in and out fairly quickly considering that the stores were busy.  Two loads of laundry done too and 3 batches of cookie dough made and stored in the refrigerator.  Melanie and Aniya will be over later afternoon to make cookies.

The hexie flower not yet complete – but to show that I did get a little bit done!

One item from the shopping trip which has been open and eating has begun!  Love these and have gotten them several years in a row.

And under the Christmas tree it is looking festive.  The two boxes on the right are empty and had presents in them at one time for my mother – when she died I found them in her closet as we were clearing the place out so I took them home with me – she even had the bows still on them – I guess she liked the boxes so much she didn’t want to toss them so now I use them for decorations and a memory – Aniya liked them so much she thought she could play with them when she was here last week so I thought what better gift for her then to get a box for her that she could keep along with a pretty bow on it too.  She can keep treasures in it – right now there is a small book and a bag of candy in it for her.  I think at 5 she will like that kind of present.

Some work on the Postage Stamp quilt on Sunday night.  I am linking to Sew Fresh Quilts today and Jo’s Country Junction and My Quilt Infatuation.

Today is what I hope will be my final eye check up with the eye surgeon from the initial eye surgery I had in February and then further treatment when the cataract surgery in the summertime had a complication – My vision has been much improved and I think I will finally be able to toss all of the eye drops!  I hope anyhow.  I guess I will find out.  There will be little to no sewing done again today – The appointment is in the morning and other than lunch we do not have plans to stay in the city – we barely like to shop there anymore as we both prefer to shop on line – Melanie will be over around 3 or 4 for our baking session and maybe I can get some sewing done in the evening? We will see.

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

Hoping your eye appt. goes well and that you can, indeed, throw away all the drops!

so do I Marianne – I see you got up pretty early this morning too! I haven’t been in a good sleep pattern lately and waking up way too early

Waking up early is the “norm” for me. Am surprised to ‘see’ you!!!! I pray you have a good MD report. Sounds like a busy day to me and fun-filled, to be sure!!!! Even an empty box can provide so many sweet memories, hmmmmm??

yes today was a very early start that I wish didn’t happen – sometimes I just do not sleep well and seems to be happening very often lately. The empty boxes add a festive touch under the tree 🙂

Love those boxes under the tree. Such a beautiful remainder of your mother. Hope all is well with your eyes and you can do away with eye drops. I had laszik surgery so I don’t have to wear glasses, but I have to use tears eye drops a few times a day to keep my eyes moist. It gets to be a drag sometimes but seeing without glasses is worth it. Enjoy your baking day with your daughter and Aniya.

I really like your Postage Stamp quilt. Love the white strip contrast to the multi-colored squares. Good Job!

Karen, I hope your eye appointment went well….this has been a long process for you, hasn’t it?
    Have fun baking this afternoon!

yes it went well, Doc said it is back to normal now but in some cases here and there swelling can come back, so I will be back for another check in late February – better to keep on “eye” on it for a little while. Trust this guy so will do as he says – two more weeks of decreasing the eye drops then done for now. I made 3 batches of cookie dough last night so ready when they get here.
