A Busy Sunday

Handful of Scraps, Postage Stamp Quilt, scrap quilts

I was hopping from one project to another yesterday.  I wanted to get my binding made first for the Scrappy Stars so I could get it sewed on the quilt and have it sitting aside so I can pick it up and work on it when I feel like.  Scrappy binding was decided.  Mainly blues to go with the star theme.

It quickly went together, got it pressed and then I laid the quilt on the floor to pin in place.  I only pin in place when I do scrappy binding because there are so many seams.  I do not want a seam to end up on the corner.  Luckily the first time I laid it out it was in the right places.

See how it goes in the corner – this is what I mean with no seam in the corner.

Once I had the binding done I was ready to move on to the hexies later in the day  – the basting for this one is all done and I’m ready to move on to the yellow for the second round.

A little hand quilting got done also on The Postage Stamp quilt — I am linking up to MCM#62 Cooking Up Quilts today.  Also linking to Love, Laugh, Quilt and Em’s Scrapbag.

I hope everyone enjoyed the Craftsy supply sale and if you were going to order anything you were able to.  I am looking forward to getting my 3 fabrics that I ordered and will show them when they arrive.

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

  • The scrappy binding is perfect for your scrappy quilt. Good way to use up left over strips.

Because you earlier talked about a scrappy binding when I was ready to choose binding for my lap quilt, I decided to audition a binding of many fabrics and colors… spent some time yesterday choosing.. not yet sewn together yet, but knowing I love it, motivates me to get other chores over so I can work on this. This heads my to-do list.

I think scrappy binding makes for an interesting end in a scrappy quilt!

it just seems that way – sometimes I am fast, and sometimes I start out fast then it goes downhill from there and too many projects going on and some get very neglected.

I continue to be amazed at how much you get done in a day! The scrappy binding was a perfect choice for that quilt. Good tip to use the clips to hold the binding in place as you attach it. I usually just put it on and once in a while a seam ends up at the corner.

that is how I always used to do it but I always ended up with too many seams in the corners and needed to stop to fix those so now I do it like this with scrappy binding.

Love the story of the neighbourhood dog… that’s the way I want to enjoy a dog too, go for a walk together, and then you go home!!
