A Finished Top

gardening, Retro Air Ship Propeller’s

Yes I got back to work on the Retro Air Ship Propellers and it is finished. It was hard to get it to lay completely flat on the carpet – it is flatter than it looks on that one end.  After moving the big heavy coffee table I didn’t feel like crawling all over the floor to straightened it out.  I started the blocks back in September but by January I think I had only done 5 of them LOL – in February I got serious about tackling it and getting it done and it zoomed on by after that.  This well be the last you see of this one for awhile – I want to hand quilt this one and put some sort of geometric quilting in the big border with red thread – I hope to get to it this fall or winter.  Finished at 99 inches square give or take a half inch here or there.  Linking to Sew Fresh Quilts and Jo’s Country Junction and Quilt Fabrication: MidWeek Makers.

I did work on the Hexagons off and on yesterday also – maybe that will be finished for the next post.  In the meantime more tulips have opened.

All the potted plants still waiting to be planted – the garden is way too wet, I can’t even walk down to it without my feet sinking in dirt – maybe this weekend – more rain Wednesday night possibly bad storms coming through – hope it will miss us and hope all my Oklahoma and Texas blogging friends will have come through the storms ok as they are getting hit before me.  I like the warmer temperatures at this time of year and all the plants growing – but I hate tornado season – the storms are really bad at times – I cleaned out the storm shelter in case we have to use it.

My skinny 3 year old apple tree has blossoms on it!  hope the storm doesn’t ruin it – doubt I would get any apples this year but would be nice to get one or two!

Here maybe you can see the whole tree better – all behind wire so the deer won’t get it – they were really interested it in the first year so we put a wire fence around it.

I love the smell of apple blossoms! That really spells spring to me. Your propeller quilt has turned out great, and I can’t wait to see the quilting in the border with red thread. You really finished that up quickly!

Your Propeller quilt is wonderful. All of the different neutrals make it sparkle. I wish I could grow tulips here, but we have to treat them like annuals… plant new bulbs every fall. They are like candy to the squirrels! Yours are beautiful….a true sign of spring!

The Propeller quilt is lovely! Very different, too. Are you keeping it or donating to a kid?

We have rain, drizzle, rain. We need it, but it’s dreary. Still bits of snow here and there. I figure it will all be gone by July.

Such a great quilt top which you will get to spend lots of time with it since you’re hand quilting. (g) Very unique and appealing

I love the finished top Karen. Congratulations on such a quick finish. I like the idea of the red thread. The tulips are so pretty, spring has arrived. We had 75 mile winds last night, but no damage here. Lots of houses damaged not too far from us. We had about an inch of rain, so that was good. I hope it gives out before it gets to you. Run your finger from apple flower to flower to pollinate like a bee and you will get an apple for sure. I do this on my plum and nectarine and I have little fruits. I saw some bees, but wasn’t sure if they were in my fruit tree.

Great to read your post with all the beautiful flowers….it is snowing at my house. We got six inches of new snow last night and it is still coming down. Pretty typical for spring weather but one always hopes for a spring with no snow.

Red quilting thread on the Propellers .. good idea.. will the thread be perle cotton or regular quilting thread? Great to see the plants on your deck waiting to be planted.. wish more people would grow some of their food… would be a lot healthier nation.

Beautiful propellers quilt! Love the propellers and the red border makes it pop. Spring has sprung your side, beautiful flowers. Love tulips, but they don’t grow in the heat and humidity here.

Your Propeller quilt turned out beautifully. That neutral keyboard border has a very nice shimmer effect going. Happy stitching this week.

Your great big Propeller quilt looks fabulous, Karen! The border with propellers in the corners really sets off the design. Nice to see your flowers and wee tree in bloom. It’s such a relief to finally be seeing signs of spring!
