Air Ships and Hexies

Handful of Scraps, Retro Air Ship Propeller’s

Another busy day for air ship propellers.  I got six more made  – five shown in the photo below, when I got done taking photos I decided to make one more to finish a row.  Some figuring was also done and if this quilt moves towards a queen size I need to make about 50 more blocks!!

A lot more work – but then I have a lot of scraps to work with.  Where the Retro Air Ship Propellers ended last night.

glad I have my dining room to work in right now – fabric draped over a chair, project box on chair, ironing board near by – a pretty good set up for now.

The 7th of 8 hexies needed square off Handful of Scraps is thread basted.

and work got started.

As I wrote this last night the news was saying we might get bad storms again during the night – hope we had no damage – as of last night when I was typing this up we had not gotten any rain, but it sounds like it was to start around the time I was going to bed.  Hope no one gets any tornados or damage in the night.

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

I hope that the night and storm situation went well.

I had to laugh to myself…your Airships will probably be done, quilted and bound and I will still be plugging away on one or two a month via the Rainbow Scrap Challenge colors ha ha!

Deb I think I have come to realize I am not the type of quilter who can make 2 or three blocks a month and keep going. I just want to get this top done for some reason and move on to another. I guess I do not like having so many in line waiting to be done.
We barely got touched by the storm by time it got to our area in the middle of the night, I haven’t turned the news on to see how the rest of the state fared, I must do that

The sewing set-up in your dining room seems perfect..all the natural light .. the space on the table for mats, scissors, templates..etc. .. plus the ironing board nearby and snack food… tea pot/coffee pot. The mat printed with a circle is new to me… why did I never buy one!!

it took a little while to get used to this temporary space but now it is working out good other than cleaning it up at the end of the day for supper when Mike is home and I am cooking – this week yesterday through Wednesday Mike is working late so it is staying as is while I am working. The green square mat with the circle is a rotating cutting mat.

Such a positive outlook! Only 50 more to go! Your sewing area looks a lot like mine, I bet you miss your sewing room. How is the redo going? Glad you had no trouble from the storm.

Love the propellers so much. I’ve considered making them myself ever since I saw them in Mary Mashuta’s older book!

Been in and out (mostly out) of blogland and had missed all the air ship propellers blocks you had made earlier. It looks nice! Great scrappy project. I don’t have a sewing room, I’m using the dining table. Good thing we seldom have dinner guests! 🙂

Are you enjoying making your propeller blocks? I LOVE that block and I had so much fun when I made mine. Yours are looking fantastic!!!

as long as I make the outside pieces bigger than they are supposed to be so I can square up the blocks are going well and I like them. I think some make curves harder than they need to be.

The last I started more than one project. I always started on one project and then finished it and went on. Now I have 4 or 5 hand projects going and trying to get caught up on all.
So until I get ahead of the game, I need to not start anymore. I really agree with you, but sometimes I do enjoy a good BOM. For some reason I have all applique projects going!
Need to change that. March will be a slow month. Going to the Dallas Show and a week at the Casino – yea no cooking or cleaning! How lucky I am – draining the data base in the brain and coming home fresh!
