Cutting and Cutting

Handful of Scraps, Retro Air Ship Propeller’s

Yesterday I was busy off and on all day cutting more Retro Air Ship Propeller blocks.  I got a lot cut – I believe it was 15 of them, now over the next couple days I can sit and stitch in between doing other things.  Stacked up and ready to go.  Well not stacked up at the showing of this photo, but Mike will be home now the next four days and I want to clear the table off so we have room to eat.  I will just stack them and set them by the sewing machine so they will be ready to go.

As I was cutting the pieces out the small left over pieces were being cut into little squares to add to the boxes – these are 2.5, 2, and 1.5, the bigger pieces were folded and stacked ready to put back in the boxes.  I am linking to My Quilt Infatuation today.

I finished the bright yellow hexie on Tuesday night and added it to the pile and got started on the last one needed.

This is where the Handful of Scraps is now – the lower right hand corner has one left that I am working on and then it will be ready for the next step of adding these hexies in and all the neutrals that will go in between.  When this next step is done then I will lay it out on a background and applique this in place and decide on a border.

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

Wow – look at all those hexies! They look great, and I’m impressed that you are going to applique that whole thing down to the background. Can’t wait to see…

Karen, I’m going to try some hand quilting on a small wall hanging (45 x 36) and wondered if it’s ok to leave the hanging in the hoop over night or am I supposed to loosen it between quilting times? I haven’t done hand quilting but thought I’d ask you, the expert!

I say spread a picnic cloth for Mike to eat on the floor versus interrupting all this progress, ha ha ! 🙂

I’m curious as to why your appliqueing it down rather than just adding neutral Hexies to the edges and trimming them off once the border is added.

You sure are getting a lot of sewing done in your make-do sewing room. I’m with Deb–time for a floor picnic. Good luck with both your sewing projects and your room project!

You are one busy quilter! I understand your not wanting to leave things out on the table. My mom just pushed her sewing and quilting to one side of the table. How she managed to find and figure it out later is beyond me. I’d rather stack it to the side and know it’s the way I left it. (But I’m a control freak haha) Enjoy that beautiful hexie project–it’s looking awesome!
