More of the Same

Handful of Scraps, Retro Air Ship Propeller’s

Y’all will get tired of these two quilts.  I seem tobe stuck in a rut though and just working on these two right now.  I normally have to have variety and switch constantly between 4 or 5 projects but all of a sudden I seem to just want to get some finished and working on the same things.  Most likely this routine will get boring soon and I will all of a sudden switch out and go back to applique!  I got 5 more of the Retro Air Ship Propellers sewed yesterday as it was a very chilly off and on rainy day – 37 for a high – after the 50’s-70’s for highs that we had been getting for a month it felt down right chilly and reminds you that technically winter is not over.  I ventured outside briefly to collect the mail and then late in the afternoon between rain showers we got the apple tree covered and the blue hydrangea in case of freezing weather as they were leafed out already.  I was going to cover the clematis but then decided if it gets ruined I can just cut it back and it should do alright.

The five I did Saturday

I wanted to see what they would look like laid out on the floor and what I thought of them – how many more to make etc.  I have 6 more cut out I believe.  Possibly will work on those today as it will be cold again today.  I’m still thinking of a narrow sashing as I have seen a lot of this pattern with sashing and have liked it when I have seen it – possibly the solid medium gray Boundless brand that I bought from Craftsy last month.  If I do sashing it would probably be about 1 inch wide.

I am still working on the upper right corner of the Handful of Scraps and most likely will be for some time!  Some of these just set in place for the photo to make sure of color placement – I did work a little more on it last night and will today for my Slow Sunday Stitching with Kathy  also linking to Quilting is More Fun than Housework.

Meant to take the photo from a different angle and didn’t so it looks like the area I am working on is the bottom – doesn’t really matter just that I have been saying top left corner.

Before I went to bed last night it did begin to snow lightly – not a lot and the weather map indicated it wouldn’t last long-kind of dark to get a good photo but just wanted to get one Smile this is only our second snow fall this winter – we usually get at least a little more than this!

A new to me blog called The Little Mushroom Cap from Australia has printable 7/8th inch hexies for the quilt above that you can download and print.  Link on the name of the blog.

The airship propeller quilt is really taking shape! I like the blocks on point and think that the medium gray skinny sashing will look great. What will you do for the big triangles all around? More background?

I’m missing my sewing machine now that we’ve been away for 3 weeks. But we are heading home in a few days. My hand quilting always gets set aside while home, so this has been good for working on Atlantic Flyway. I am on the outer border now so the end is more in sight and I’ll probably work on it more when I get home. I’d like to finish it in my lifetime!

LOVE that Propeller projects!! I think that you are on the right track with thoughts of a thin gray sashing. Looking forward to seeing this progress!

Your air ship propeller blocks are colorful. I love the way you have them laid out! It’s going to be a pretty quilt with lots of movement.

I live 25 miles north of Harrison, off of Hwy. 65N. It started with sleet and rain about 11 a.m. and turned to snow about noon. It snowed until after 6 p.m. Total of 4″. A lot of the snow has already melted and just patches left where the sunshine doesn’t hit them. This is our second snow of the season. The first one was a dusting. It didn’t last long! I have two crabapple trees that have bloomed and now have leaves on them. Doesn’t seem to have hurt them. Looking forward to warmer temps and spring can’t get here fast enough! Joyce B. in N. ARK.
