A Great Outside Day

Postage Stamp Quilt, quilts

Everything I said I was going to do yesterday – I didn’t.  Even though the table was fully extended giving me room to work on the hexie border it was untouched.  It was 80 degrees outside – time to work on the garden, spread tick pellets all over the yard and walking trail that I take in the property and generally just enjoy the sunshine!  But there are things to share!

I was asked if I had ever done another hexie quilt.  Yes I have – this one that I called Diamonds are Forever I hand pieced not EPP – it is queen size using one inch hexies.  It is hand quilted.

I have also done a Patchwork of the Crosses – which are not hexies but long kinds – what do you call them? I don’t remember the name of the shape.  This one also is hand quilted.

I was asked about the bowl on the table – it holds placemats right now – it is a replica of an old fashion dough bowl.

I did put labels on two older quilts – I found the labels put aside and realized I had neglected to put them on – they were already made so it made for fast work – now I am all caught up on labels!  The baby quilt on the right is one that will be donated shortly, the one on the left is a favorite of mine – I called it Wagon’s West, it is hand and machine pieced and hand quilted, couch size – I do not keep a lot of the couch size quilts as I really do not use them often but there are two I love and this is one of them, I will be keeping it.

I have been getting back into a good routine of hand quilting on The Postage Stamp quilt – mainly in the evenings again – almost done with this side of the last row – I start in the middle though so I have 5 blocks to finish on the opposite end of the quilt when I finish this side –  then the final border!  Linking to Quilt Fabrication , Sew Fresh Quilts and Confessions of a Fabric Addict and My Quilt Infatuation.

The fabric is still waiting for me to press it before cutting for the flannel quilt.  It is to be only in the 50’s today so I will most likely get some work done today – I do have some errands to do but not a lot so should have time.  That is all I have to share today – more tomorrow?

Your quilts are all beautiful, but I especially like Patchwork of the Crosses. Those colors are my favorite. I am amazed at how much hand quilting you accomplish. If only I enjoyed it more. Beautiful work!

Your quilts are gorgeous! I admire your handquilting skills. Sadly I don’t have the patience and machine quilt almost exclusively.

That dough bowl speaks to me.. hand carved wooden bowls of all shapes are so beautiful.. I have only one. and it holds several small patchwork pin cushions I have made. The Wagons West quilt is definitely to be kept… great colors and wheels.

Visiting from Let’s Bee Social. the Postage Stamp Quilt is a gorgeous beauty. Love the appliqued flowers along the edges. It will be an heirloom quilt, cherished for a very long time.

I love the dough bowl, I have a round one with sea shells I got in Hawaii. Old irons, dough bowls, sewing machines and quilting are my passion, lol. Oh and gardening I almost forgot. All of your quilts are just simply gorgeous Karen. I especially like Diamonds Are Forever. It is just so beautiful and love your hand quilting. The Patchwork of the Crosses is so much work and so beautiful! I just don’t have words for all your beautiful hand work!

It’s good to “use” the nice weather when it comes around. One can always sew again later 🙂 I am impressed by all your handsewn quilts. Enjoy the rest of quilting on your postage stamp one.

What a wonderful post with lovely quilts. I’m not surprised you didn’t do anything today that you said you would yesterday. We had a lovely day here today as well but sadly I had to work for half of it.

Your quilts are lovely! I’m slowing working on a hand pieced POTC and an EPP diamond quilt, but I’m not as fast at finishing as you are. For a not quilt question, I’m wondering what brand of tick pellets you apply? We also have lots of ticks and I would love to put something on the lawn to get rid of them.

Wow! What beautiful quilts! I love the Patchwork of the Crosses, and can completely see why you are holding on the the Wagon’s West quilt. I greatly admire all your handwork.
