I was extremely lazy in the sewing department yesterday – all that got done were some thread basted hexies!! I planned on getting binding ready, cutting border fabric for the stars – but none of it got done. We are supposed to get a bit of rain Wednesday through Sunday so I thought I better get the last of the flowers and seeds planted that I had still sitting on the porch. So here are a tin full of hexies and that is it! And I still have not decided on how the border will be – I’m thinking on it.
But here are some of my first red roses for the season. I had cut these two rose bushes way back towards the end of summer as the plants looked awful – the leaves were dropping and looked diseased. I wasn’t sure what would grow back but they (for now) look as healthy as usual.
Clematis in full bloom – I love these flowers.
My cement block garden taking shape – I hope to get some mulch put around today. Cucumbers and melons – a couple tiny tomato plants scattered throughout and petunias and marigolds. Haven’t a clue how they would grow here but other than the soil it didn’t cost anything but a day of labor as the cement blocks were stacked by the workshop.
When looking over the garden as I was working on it I noticed a row of these little plants and thought the leaves so odd shaped – what had I planted there – I didn’t leave a marker – obviously I planted something there were too many in a fairly straight row to have grown by itself – then I remembered I had put in a packet of Morning Glories to climb the wire with the peas.
Green Beans and the Peas. The row of green beans will be a little close when they are fully bushed out – but I ran out of room they had to go there to finish out the packet of seeds.
And still plenty of iris’s blooming. In the fall when they start to sell Iris’s again I want to get quite a few other colors and put them around – I do love these flowers.
