Stars and Binding

I thought I would get done with the first border on the Murrieta Stars today but I waited too long in the day to get started – therefor I only have two sides done – first border is the same color as the setting half square triangles then the patchwork –  I hadn’t gotten this pressed but it was time to get supper started last night when I took this photo – it would wait for today and get the next two strips – top and bottom and then get started on the patchwork – I hope!  Linking to Sarah’s Confessions of a Fabric Addict today and Crazy Mom Quilts.

I am almost done with two sides of the Postage Stamp binding – here is what it looks like with the Clam Shell border – glad I decided on the stripe – I need to keep my eye out for more stripe fabric as I am always pleased with the way it looks.

And along the sides.

Wouldn’t you know it I haven’t seen a deer in the yard for months and months and now the garden is planted and the plants are all coming up and I saw a deer in the backyard tonight.  I guess one of the first things I better do in the morning is check and see if they found the garden – I think some wire fencing will need to go up around the green beans right away – they destroyed them last year – now will they eat the peas too?  I hadn’t planted them before so I don’t know.

I finished my book “Golden Prey” this afternoon that is why I had a late start to sewing LOL – I can never put his books down – I brought it to the fitness center and even put in an extra 10 minutes on the treadmill so I could finish – I didn’t want to put it down to drive home

Thanks so much for the heads up on that quilting class on the cheap for a day at Craftsy… although not $10 … it seems a lot of their classes are on good sales right now too! I am loving the Midnight Quilt show with Angela Walters and want to take one of her classes sometime on Craftsy… of course when I do I will order via your link 🙂
I love that striped binding too!!! It is so fresh and fun and goes with that quilt I think!!
Hope your veggies are safe from the wild animals so you can have time to get them fenced today!
I am loving your Murietta Stars quilt… hope you are still loving the flannel!

I just checked by going in on the list in the paragraph write up and it still shows $10 – but it is just for the classes that are in the link right there

$10 for a Sarah Fielke class.. great… she is creative.. both as a designer and as a teacher. Good to know. The striped fabric border adds a bit of movement to the quilt.. just yesterday I auditioned a similar print for a border to my wall quilt.. did not expect it would be my choice, but, sure enough, it was the one. I think the deer showed up because…”Build it and they will come. “

I hope that deer missed your garden. It’s the pits when creatures want to destroy your hard work, isn’t it? Rabbits and armadillos are always my problem. Your striped binding is perfect for your quilt! I have to keep this tip in mind when I need a binding, more fabric shopping, lol! Books that can’t be put down bring such enjoyment, don’t they. The borders on the flannel stars is looking good.

The deer said “oh look she’s mixing a salad for us ; how nice of her!” 🙂

I’m currently listening to Golden Prey and it is very hard to put down. It finally cleared our library’s audio wait list.
