Little Scrappy Baskets

Fall Harvest (scrappy baskets)

Yesterday morning I decided the project box for the scrappy baskets needed to be organized – more blocks cut and some baskets.  First I got some background fabric pressed and cut into the squares and set those aside.  I got to looking at the same old fabric that I had set in the box for baskets but I was tired of them.  I went to the shelf to see what I had from all those 7 inch charms that were included in the Frivols boxes that I had gotten when they came out – which was a total rip off in price but I do like the fabrics (it was the freebies and the boxes that were a rip off in price).  The table was covered for awhile

IMG_2157These background blocks cut and ready to use.  I think there are about 36 of them plus four that I pulled from the 7” charms trimmed down to six inches

I found two sets, one had enough light color that go with the background types that I am using (more colors in the box not used) and I like these blues and reds so will be using some of those.  When I cut the baskets out I am careful to use the rotary cutter first around the edge to cut away the excess – enough for some pieces to go in the scrap boxes.

Also had this small bundle called “Little House on the Prairie” that has some pieces that I can mix in.

So I got four more blocks prepped.  Only one with the red in the background right now but I have several other pieces that I can use to scatter around also – so it might look odd at the moment but remember there are 300 baskets to make and only around 30 done so lots of room to mix in a variety of neutrals with prints in the background.  Linking to Confessions of a Fabric Addict and Crazy Mom Quilts.

Love the baskets! What are you using to mark your stitching line on the baskets? It looks white-ish. Also—-do you fuse the baskets down before you do the needle-turn applique?

I had no idea what Frivols boxes were. I did an image search and figured it out. I don’t think I ever saw any in the local quilt shop.
