Mini Hexies

Granny’s Gone Crazy

Once again a lazy day of sitting on the porch reading and stitching.  The grass really needed to get cut – but it didn’t – which means I really need to get to it today!  Melanie stopped by for awhile and stitched on the porch while visiting but I didn’t think to grab the camera for a photo of her project, then she went home and showed up later in the day with Aniya in tow as Aniya found out she had been here and didn’t bring her and she wanted to visit – they caught us just as were leaving the house though to run out for a bit so it was just a short visit – they will be back – Aniya wants to play in the vegetable garden – what that means is she hopes the cherry tomatoes will be ripe for the picking – but they aren’t – she will eat them like candy if you let her.

I am just about to a stopping point on these minis and need to make more – only two left to stitch in place which means back to prepping baskets and making birds this week – and maybe get a few new minis made also.  But like I told you all this little project is a fill in the time gap – when I do not have anything else prepped and ready to work on I will try to do a few more of these.  I keep a little project box on the shelf under the coffee table in easy reach.

This was from Saturday night

This is from Sunday night – oh my how she grew – this one might be appropriately named Granny’s Gone Crazy!!  How big will she grow?  I guess we will find out in a year or two or three! LOL – as you can see in the box only two left in the box to use.  These are half inch hexies so nothing I will be working on continuously.  Linking to Esther’s Quilt Blog.

It was a beautiful weekend to be sitting out on the porch. You got more rain than we did here. Less wind here too. I have a basket next to my chair with project to grab when I have nothing urgent or want a change. Your mini hexies are so cute.

Sitting on the porch stitching is pretty close to heaven…I have been making 6″ churn dash and shoo-fly blocks… blocks that are for beginners and children.. and my ripper is wearing out. Did not suppose there could be so many ways to sew the triangles wrong…Always nice to have your blog about quilting.. and porch time… early every morning.

What a lovely day you had with your stitching hexies and a visit from Melanie. I have one cherry tomato turing ripe Aniya would have enjoyed eating. Your hexies are so cute and really grew. It was a beautiful sunny day yesterday and today looks like another great day. Thanks for sharing your quilting life with us Karen.

So pretty! Isn’t it wonderful when the weather allows for some outside stitching!

Our weekend was far from idyllic and resulted in tons of indoor stitching and almost-completions that will be blog ‘fodder’ in the upcoming days. We did get the lawn mowed last week and, with the cool/cold temps, it’s growing quite slowly….yay!!!!!

Those little hexies are adorable Karen! You’re really quick too — it would take me forever to get that much done!

Hi Karen sounds so dreamy and oldworldly sitting on the porch sewing while the world passes you by, but I can see you were not dreaming by how many hexies you have made and sewn together. I have put my 1/2inch hexagon quilt away that I’m hand quilting as I have some projects that MUST be finished for this winter, it is taking many years to hand quilt inside each hexagon but I will get there. I like the sound of your guilt name Granny’s Gone Crazy LOL Hugs Glenda

I have yet to get my hexies out this year. I’ve sure been wanting to. My quilt is going to be totally scrappy with them over making the flowers. I have so many made and so many to go and am anxious to work on it and see just how large it will turn out.
My guild is taking a bus trip to the Kansas City Regional Quilt Show. I’m taking along my box of hexies for the 4 hour drive each way.

Really enjoying watching your hexies grow…. soon you will decide to do something other than the flowers, and all will break loose!

    Enjoy!
