Piecing and Hexies

Granny’s Gone Crazy, scrap quilts

On the weekend I rarely get around to sewing much as we are always busy doing other things and in and out of the house.  Yesterday was no different.  I get the iron out and pressed the patchwork blocks that I had started on Friday for the Bonnie Hunter quilt.  I have 10 done that is enough for two blocks now for each of those blocks – which well finish at around 18 inches I need to make 4 half square triangle blocks.  I looked through my box to see what I had in neutrals.  I do have a stack of 12 white fat quarters with a very light print.  I might go ahead and use those.  While I was pulling fabric I got some out of the orange/brown/yellow box for the hst’s.  It is a start – I will look at it again today and see what I decide.  We will be busy again today and I won’t have time for much stitching.  Monday is a busy day for me too but I will probably get in some sewing at some point.

Today though for Slow Sunday Stitching with Kathy I will work on some hexies off and on when taking breaks from physical labor – always nice to pick up a hexie or two to work on.  Right now I have 5 little hexies to sew to the main piece.  Also linking to Quilting is More Fun Than Housework.

Last day for the Craftsy must-have classes, all yours for under $20! Friday the 2nd through Sunday the 4th at midnight.

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

Those hexies are truly a flower garden and gorgeous!!!! The temps the last couple of days have directed me more indoors, unfortunately. Setting temp records (97F yesterday!!!) is not the type of thing I really enjoy. However, time spent in the shade of our little front porch, on the wicker swing, did provide the perfect resting place! No stitching here today……Sundays are “wide open”, usually, as far as those things go. Vacation Bible School at our church runs every evening this coming week, so will rest up for all those energetic kiddos!!!

Love your hexies! Bonnie Hunter quilts have tons of pieces but they always turn out gorgeous. Good luck!

There won’t be any outside work here today. Raining all day…a great day to stay inside and sew! Hexie flowers are a perfect little break from heavy labour.

The nine patch is always a chance to use the scraps. .. to experiment with colors.. and a relaxing one plus they work in great with so many settings. Yours are pretty cheerful and bouncy. Nice cool morning here with occasional showers.

Your hexies are just the cutest, so little! The nine patches are growing so fast, you’ll have them done in no time. The weekends are always the busiest, I think. We had such beautiful slow rain the last few days, I didn’t have any yard work to do. Everything is soaked and so pretty and green. My baskets are growing now that I’m inside. Hope you get some time to stitch in between your work.

Your hexies are so wonderfully colorful. Enjoy your stitching and all the rest of your weekend activities.

I clicked on your pic at the Slow Sunday Stitching linky party to see what you will be doing with your hexies. I am doing some, too, and I have no plan whatsoever for how I will use them. I like the way yours are looking all sewn together with no spacing in between. I have seen several like this. Maybe I will do mine this way; maybe not. I figure I still have a lot of hexie flowers to make before having to decide. Yours are gorgeous – this is why I seem to find myself making them! They look so fantastic in just about any setting!
