Some Fabric Arrived

Granny’s Gone Crazy, scrap quilts

I ordered light neutral prints from two places and one package come yesterday and one will come today and I will get back to work on Tumalo Trails.  I made up one block to see how I like them and I like them – about half of the blocks will have these and other neutral prints instead of the white on white for the half square triangles – that should mix them up good.

This is how it looks in the block –

Different colors but for scrappy this will work out really good – I have 4 from this group and about 10 more I think from the one that will arrive today. Plenty for this project with leftovers for others.  These are mostly half yard cuts with the ones that came yesterday at one yard.  Linking to Esther’s Quilt Blog .

And just for fun here is the progress on Granny’s Gone Crazy – I don’t know why I have been taking this project out to play almost every day – I am neglecting the birds for sure and the little baskets.

Here I pulled the recent made ones out away from the body so you can see where it actually stands as a sewn together and what needs to be sewn – I had four prepped last night so planned on working on those last night and then maybe start sewing to the major piece this week.

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

I love shirtings! Am working on the Moda Blockheads block of the week (I do a few weeks at a time) and am using them for that. I discovered some 6″ heart blocks on shirting that I had left over from a class I taught, so I’ll add those to the mix, which may also include some other 6″ blocks from a swap. Curious to know where you got your fabric? The booth at the VT Quilt Festival that I usually go to is Cotton in the Cabin, but I’ve never bought anything from them online. They sell lovely bundles although I didn’t buy any this year.

Homestead Hearth I had to send that one an email with questions but she answered the same day and said the listings were not up to date – I had found a bundle that had some of the neutrals in it and wondered if I could just get the neutrals not the other colors in the bundle – they were available she had not updated her page though that is where I got the fabric that I got yesterday and Fat Quarter Shop is the one I will get some from today.

Light neutrals … can’t have too many.. and getting a package of them in the mail would be exciting….I have seen backgrounds made from an assortment of these. .. Sue Spargo does this beautifully. Tumalo Trails is a stand out quilt.

neutrals are the only fabric I have gotten this year (that I can remember that is) I really don’t think I have gotten any others. I have mainly been working with scraps this year and neutrals are needed they are the fabric I always run out of the most

thanks – I’m anxiously awaiting my fabric delivery today to see what they look like – when ordering on line most times I am satisfied but sometimes the colors are a little darker or lighter than I expected but I’m always satisfied it seems and it is so much easier than driving 3 hours round trip to see what is at the quilt shops – makes for a much easier day!

I like your pretty fabric and your hexies are really growing. I too like ordering online instead of driving to a quilt store. I’ve always liked the fabric I’ve gotten, and like the Fat Quarter Shop. They ship so fast and they are only about three hours south of me. Thank you for the other name, I’ll have to check them out. My son was coming through Kansas and saw a quilt shop, wanted to know if I wanted anything, I said six neutral fat quarters, and he really picked some good ones, lol! He had to ask the ladies what fat quarters were!

Who is the designer of the shirtings? It is usually on the selvage.
