Too Hot!

Handful of Scraps, quilts

I hate it when it is so hot here – it is uncomfortable to be on the porch past 9 AM which means if you don’t get outside first thing don’t bother.  I was outside watering the garden last night at 7PM and it was 88 degrees – but the sun was behind the trees so it made it bearable.  Tomatoes are finally starting to ripen one by one – I hope I get a spell where it is more like 10 at a time.

I made more hexies for Handful of Scraps – 2 rows finished   – I could tell I was a little off and had to add another at the bottom on the left side and then I realized I needed on the other side as well – easy fix.

I need to thread baste more – the two bottom rows are together but not attached to the body – I will probably wait to do that until I have two or three more rows finished.  Linking to My Quilt Infatuation  .

La Passacaglia – I pressed the piece I will applique to and that is as far as I got with it.  I’m trying to decide if I want to separate the pieces or have them together.  I think this will probably be a wall hanging because if I have it on the table it is hard to fit a center piece as the pieces would be covered up partially or all of it !

I think it looks better all together – the background piece will be cut down some – when I was thinking on the table I was thinking this size, but if I have it for a wall hanging it would be too long – I would have it a bit smaller.IMG_2775

Separated pieces.  I feel if they were separated it would need more applique and I no longer have the templates nor the fabric that I was using.  I just wanted to use these 3 pieces up and get them out of the UFO box.

Every year I get tree frogs residing in the fern dish – they love the cool water I am sure  – I found this one last night – this year has been so different being wetter than normal until recently that I hadn’t seen him until now – guess it got too hot wherever he had been until now.

Love the little frog picture! That is something we don’t get around here! The low volume hexies are so pretty in your Handful of Scraps – they make a great background for the colorful pieces.

Your did a lot of work on your hexies and they are looking so pretty. I like the pieces together too on your wall hanging. The picture of the frog is so cute, I love it! I had one in my flower pot and he always stuck his head out when I was watering. It’s suppose to get cooler here on Monday, but in the 100’s till then. I have to get out early or its too hot after nine. Stay cool while you stitch.,.
