Stain Glass Stars and 4-Patches

Baking/cooking, Fall Harvest (scrappy baskets), quilts

The Stain Glass Stars wall hanging is finished – quilting took 10 days and the applique took 3 days I think – not bad for a little wall hanging made of left over blocks.  I put half square triangles in each corner for hanging.  Right now it is hanging the long skinny way – I might be moving this to the sewing room eventually and hang it the opposite way then – we will see.

I got a lot of four patches cut out yesterday in the early afternoon then sat down to the machine for about an hour and started to chain piece – these are for the little baskets – I think this quilt will still end up about 80 inch square but not really sure – well be playing it by ear and getting out my portable design wall to start playing with placement and see how many more blocks need to be made.

More work was done on the hexies but I forgot to take a photo – I have one row ready to add on to the body – show it tomorrow maybe.  And more tomatoes were picked and more sauce made – 4 more pints – that makes 18 pints.

Very nice wallhanging! You don’t often make small pieces! Wasn’t it fun to have a finish so quickly? I used to grow and can tomatoes. I kind of miss it.

The wallhanging looks gorgeous and so does that tomato sauce! 🙂 I finally picked about a dozen that are almost-ripe yesterday after heavy rains all night and morning. They are out on the porch to ripen more. Other than that, it’s been one or two per day thus far.

hope your squirrels stay away from the tomatoes on the porch! My plants are getting that end of the season look to them, still tomatoes on them to ripen but the plants aren’t looking that great.

Your wall hanging turned out beautiful, l love it! What a busy day you had and accomplished so much. That’s a good stack of four patches you made too. I can hardly wait to see the little baskets top finished. Your sauce looks yummy! I can’t believe you even had time to do some hexies! I was still cutting my hexies out on my machine yesterday. I’m cutting and making little kits for the rosettes and each star section, so I can just grab one and sew it anywhere. It just takes time in between my garden and everyday life. Have a great week!

for the rows of hexies I am sewing a long chain of pieces together and then sewing it to the body right now – that part time more time but I got a half row attached last night. I want to get my design wall put together so I can work on placement for the baskets and figure out how many more pieces I need
