Applique and More From the Show

quilts

I have a family baby shower to attend today and need to make a 5 hour round trip to do it!  I haven’t seen many family members for some time so thought I really needed to make an effort to get to this.  I will link to Kathy and make an effort to unwind this evening with stitching on my vine for Fall Harvest.  I had wanted to find a charm package of fall prints and colors to make fall leafs for the this quilt but couldn’t find what I wanted so I will need to search through the scraps instead or look on line this week – this is the amount of vine I am finished with – brown stitching on brown vine doesn’t show up! For Slow Sunday Stitching I will not have time to work on anything until evening. Also linking to Quilting is More Fun Than Housework and

Maybe you can tell from the back.

Now more from the show:  I have put the name of the maker right after the quilt.  Sometimes I just can not get a super clear shot of a quilt and the camera shakes just a tiny bit or whatever – a person just about bumping you? and it will be a slightly blurry – sorry

This was one of my favorite quilts.

this one has a lot of little pieces for sure – one of the few I saw from Japan although I’m sure I didn’t catch some of them – I was looking but not always at who made it – they tend to run together after awhile.

I have more.  Winners were voted on this time not just selected by the judges – the judges selected a list of I think 15 quilts then people – quilters voted on the winners.   A different approach to the show this time.   If you have not seen the show winners you can go to this link

I will, just wish it wasn’t quite so far to drive

We had to do a drive like that for the funeral on Friday – exhausting, but you’re glad you did it in the end. Be safe! Lots of beautiful eye candy from the show!

It seems the only way to see my family if for me to do the driving – they never want to do the driving I have been doing it less in the years since my mom died.

I hope to unwind from the drive this evening with some stitching – I don’t plan to be gone long but that drive is what takes the whole darn day it seems

I love the first quilt, those tumblers are so tiny! Five hours is quite a distance, but seeing your family will be worth it. I love all the pictures of the show, thank you so much for showing them to us. Have a safe trip and enjoy yourself.

yes two and half hours there and back makes for a long trip – I do not see my siblings all that often anymore and at least a couple of them and a lot of the sister in laws will be there and nieces – doubt many of the brothers will show up for a baby shower 🙂

Well I did go and look at the top winners and love the horses nuzzling each other… that one is a great best of show… when I went to the Daytona AQS show last year the best of show was over the top with glued on jewels and such… crazy unuseful quilt/wall piece of art to me anyway… this one is one that gives you a warm fuzzy feeling though… I loved all the pics you shared from the show in your post today… and hope you have fun at the baby shower seeing your peeps and celebrating a new life coming into the world… thanks for showing both sides of your stem applique… your stitches ROCK! sometimes I like art quilts and other times I do not and wonder what the fuss is about – but I guess being a traditional quilter is why they do not stand out to me as much. The horses were a neat wall quilt – at first I thought a large part of the brown was thread work but it was a very nice texture fabric. I will show more tomorrow’s post as I got home late and have barely touched any quilting since we got home from Paducah – I hope to get back into my routine tomorrow!! I sure hope hurricane Maria is not heading to Florida!
