Round We Go

Round We Go

Not much to show for yesterday.  I was busy ripping out more of the garden while Mike was cutting grass.  We even got a little rain by late afternoon from the remnants of Irma.  On Monday night I did finish the 3rd circle star for Round We Go and yesterday I got fabric picked out for the 4th of this first pattern.  No I am not following any Monthly program as some are doing – I just thought I would get these four done and then go back to my neutral hexies for Handful of Scraps.  I think all of the monthly challenges for Round We Go are from Australia – I might be mistaken on that but the ones I have seen are and all the prizes are from Australian shops – which means if I won I would need to pay $$ for shipping and handling which kind of defeats the purpose of a win!  So no I am just doing this one on my own.   I am trying really hard to not start machine piecing another quilt top right now and stick with hand work until after the sewing room is up and running because I have so many quilt tops finished and waiting to be quilted.  Hand work can slow a quilt down a lot!

As you can see very scrappy!  I have no idea what color background I will be appliqueing these circles to I will decide at a much later date!

If you have been to Paducah for one of the shows as I have been what is your favorite thing to do or see?  Of course the show and vendors is number one right – after that I bet a lot like to shop at Hancock’s of Paducah I know I do – it may not be a fancy or cute place – but hey a warehouse size place is kind of neat to wander through isn’t it.  (and they always have sales)  Our motel is actually close to that area – yes because this is the first time for the fall show the rooms right there in Paducah weren’t all booked up – isn’t that neat – usually I have to stay 50 miles away.  One place that I hadn’t visited before was Paper Piece’s and now with my interest in EPP I’m sure I will check out the store to see what they have – I think it is a small store but not positive.  I have walked into Eleanor Burns place I think – but I really don’t remember it much so it was either not to my liking or so small and crowded that I turned around and left.  We well enjoy a walk along the river also I’m sure as it is supposed to be partly sunny and clear by Thursday.  Just a short trip but we will enjoy it – what do you like doing there?

Have a great time in Paducah! I’ll be waiting for photos.

I, too, am slowing down a bit. When I look at the pile of finished quilts, I decided I have enough on the slow go right now. I’ve been slowly machine quilting a larger quilt and hand quilting a wallhanging I’ve had hanging around for over a year. It’s time to finish the latter.

I will be working on my hand quilting again soon but it will take me easily two years to catch up unless I decide to machine quilt one or two of them. I have been taking photos but not as many as sometimes – break time is over and I’m getting ready to go look somemore!

I’ve had a good time catching up on all your posts — I can’t keep up LOL! Your EPP project looks really fun — I can’t wait to see it develop. I have one I started but I wasn’t really happy with my stitches — need to work on them. Have a great trip to Paducah — it’s been a LOT of years since I’ve been there. Looking forward to seeing what you find there!

I’m so lucky Paducah is “only” six hours from me – driveable if I do it myself or when Mike comes along like he has this time. I have been finding bits and pieces and taking photos – the circle stars are addicting!! And doing the hand work will slow my progress down a bit so maybe I can one day get caught up on the quilting.
