Fall Leaves

Fall Harvest (scrappy baskets), Primary Colors

Fabric ones that is.  I got more leafs cut out for Fall Harvest and more of the last border vine done too – not finished but close.  I need to get more – I’m figuring about 50 leafs should do it.

And I got the quilting all done in this direction.  I am going to go in the opposite direction now but only on each side of those big four patch signature blocks in the ditch maybe 10 more lines total – something like that – just to kind of anchor it all in place good – then on to the binding.

I hope to get the rest of the quilting done tomorrow and then square it up and make the binding.  The fabric for the binding that I want to use is a black that is the same pattern as all these colors are –  it is actually darker than this – it is black but I had to make it gray so you could see the design – if I do not have enough will take some of the other left over pieces and make it multi-colored.  Linking up to MCM #90 Cooking Up Quilts today, Small Quilts and Doll Quilts and Em’s Scrapbag: Moving it ForwardLove, Laugh, Quilt .

That’s going to be a lovely quilt and should raise some $$ for the library. Love the binding fabric!

I hope they are able to raise some but it is a small area – in this region the incomes are not real high – more low income then high, so I think they will be happy with whatever they raise.

The quilting on the Primary Colors quilt looks fabulous. What a beautiful quilt – the black binding will make the perfect frame. Your leaves are lovely! Happy Fall!

thanks Lorna – it was your quilting that you do that made me realize that I really could machine quilt some of my quilts to get done faster

Bravo for donating a quilt… which is a chunk of your life… energy.. purchases… etc. Libraries seem to be the best use of taxpayer’s money there is.. except for education and roads.

the fabric happened to be free although I did pay regular price for the batting I got the backing on a very good sale – my daughter is the Children’s Librarian so I have a special connection to the library.

thanks – I am such a novice at machine quilting this is the easiest way for me to do it – I’m normally a traditional hand quilter! the leaves will be applique to a fall quilt.

the fall leaves will be appliqued to the border of the scrappy baskets quilt that I named Fall Harvest.

Scrappy baskets is going to be so beautiful when you applique those gorgeous colored leaves on! I really like the way you are going to machine quilt Primary Colors, stitching in the ditch on each side of the large signature blocks. It’s going to be a very nice quilt and I hope it raises money for your daughter’s library.

thanks Dottie I hope they can raise a little bit – the more the better of course

    Hi Karen,
What a pretty quilt. That black fabric is cool too, with the small black dots. It kind of looks like black-on-black. That will be stunning when it is complete, and that binding will be like a narrow frame. ~smile~ Roseanne

thanks Roseanne and I was pleased that I had enough of the black on black for the binding – I had a little one inch strip left over and couple other little pieces

Your leaves look like the perfect colors for the quilt border! It will be fun to see them sewn on.

  • Kristie Oct 2, 2017

I can’t wait to see those beautiful leaves appliqued on your basket quilt! That is going to be gorgeous.

    • Karen Oct 3, 2017

I think I have enough cut out now to possibly scatter the leaves today and maybe glue baste them in place so I won’t have little pins in my way

  • Robin Oct 3, 2017

Love the fabrics you have chosen for the leaves. The quilt looks so cozy. Nice job!

    • Karen Oct 3, 2017
