Before I get started with my post would you believe it was almost 90 degrees on Monday and the high for Tuesday was at 1:00 AM when it was still near 80 and the temperature fell all day and will be down in the high 40’s by Wednesday morning – fall has arrived!! it was 59 degrees most of the day and too windy to enjoy a walk outside! Of course it is not supposed to last long and will now be back and forth into the high 70’s to 80’s and near 58 or so at night I guess for the next week – but fall is on it’s way.
Fall Harvest is ready for the applique. Monday night I was able to spread out the quilt top on the new work table and raise up so I didn’t have to bend over (how great is that) and got busy with the glue. I would glue some then go do something else and let it have a chance to dry a little bit then come back and shift things around and glue some more.
And the lovely thing about this quilt frame is I use it for so many different things – Monday night it was being used for a drying rack. I let it hang all night and let the glue dry- Tuesday morning I took it back to the work table next to the Gutermann Thread Cabinet and picked out threads to use for applique.
Threads chosen, the quilt is folded and in the living room now ready for me to stitch when sitting in the evening or day time.
See how high the table goes! Nice!
Round We go number 2 of pattern number 2 is coming along nicely.
Someone asked what is the name of the fabric design on the edge flowery pieces – I don’t know – it was in the Hancock’s of Paducah scrap bag that I got last month and there was no salvage edge on any of the pieces in the bag and they obviously came from the same fabric bundle – maybe some of you recognize it? Here is a close up.
And Yes! Tuesday night I got started loading the quilt on the quilting frame – more on that tomorrow – I was getting tired and didn’t finish – I have the top on the back rail now and took photos as I went along – I will get back to it today. The room always looks so crowded when I am loading a quilt but I work from the back on this part so it is ok, when I need to work from the front I push it back towards the wall a bit. This is so much easier without all the stuff that had been stored under the frame all the time. I do not want to go back to that mess – I had two machines stored under the frame, plastic boxes full of batting and all sorts of things – so grateful for my storage cupboard on the other end of the room – I am not done organizing still as I have things on top of the dresser in the bedroom but it will be done. Some things will stay in the closet as well and I need to reorganize that too.
Now I know some of you think I am the energizer bunny and never sit down – but I write my post the night before and schedule it for morning so what you see is from Monday late in the day or night and Tuesday daytime into evening – so the work really is spread out over a spell – and keep in mind – no pets to care for and no grandchildren under foot – they don’t live near me. My time is my own especially with Mike working a good 20-30 hours a week right now he works late afternoon and evening simulator schedule at the nuclear training facility – so I’m not spending much time cooking.
