Progress and Some Slow Stitching Today

Fall Harvest (scrappy baskets), Primary Colors, sewing room

I got a lot of machine quilting done yesterday and I will reward myself today by doing some Slow Sunday Stitching with Kathy and finish my vine.  I am on the 4th border for Fall Harvest and would really like to finish that vine today and then get started on more leaves.  Lighting a little yellow do not have a day light bulb in this lamp by the end of the couch.

I worked off and on all day machine quilting on Primary Colors and made great inroads – I think I only have about a quarter of the quilt top left to do!!  All of this spread out for a photo – usually all bunched up on the table and my lap so it doesn’t drag.  I am linking to Quilting is More Fun Than Housework today.

This much left to do.

IMG_3322

A little bit of fall decorations even if the weather doesn’t really feel all that much like fall.

IMG_3316

With the warm weather I didn’t want to buy little pumpkins that might start to rot so I got some fake ones and fake little gourds and nuts and pinecones – well the pinecones are real lol but all the rest are fake.

Floor almost done!  The back wall we left with the old white panels – the design wall will cover that whole space – white flannel so it really won’t look so different! cleaner!  Getting close to being done.

Hope the heat wave breaks soon for you. It did yesterday, and feels so good. It was 30 when I got up today. So long to the tomatoes outside which weren’t growing fast anyway. Fall is definitely here!

oh no you never got tomatoes? sounds like you need to have a little greenhouse huh – but then you would need to heat it I bet!. It is finally getting down to 60 at night but still anywhere between 75 – 85 daytimes – too warm for beginning of October especially seeing as we have had no rain for a month

Fall has finally arrived here. I love the cooler weather.

I like your table runner. Looking to finish up some quilting projects around here today too.

    • Karen Oct 1, 2017

I like this table runner too and I almost didn’t’ make it really wasn’t my style but something about it kept calling my name.

  • Jayne Oct 1, 2017

It certainly feels like fall around here, especially in the morning! Your quilt is huge, but like you said you don’t have much more to do. Those floors…are gorgeous! We’ll be doing that very soon…I hope!

I think the quilt was 84×95 before I started to quilt – after the quilting is done and washing and drying I’m sure it will have shrunk down a bit – I will be glad to have it done.

I’m sure it will start to feel more like fall soon. You are so close to being able to start on the fun part of the applique.

yes the fun part! the vines are long and boring to me – I got a good way on it last night and hope to finish it sometime today.

Such great progress on your quilting! I tried to do a small one quickly yesterday… and even the walking foot was complaining…. I fear I will be cleaning the machine today. Enjoy the vine stitching.

I will be glad to get done with this machine quilting – it is not something I enjoy and would rather do it by hand – but didn’t have the time needed for the deadline

  • Deborah Quartz Oct 1, 2017

Love the Fall decorations sure hope it cools off soon, your vine looks like it will keep you busy stitching for a while. The quilting on the primary colors is coming along.

I shouldn’t say it is too hot – it really isn’t that bad, just not fall like but at least the nights lately are in the low 60’s

  • Diann Bottrell Oct 1, 2017

What a beautiful floor, and fun fall decorations, too! Enjoy your stitching today!

thanks Diann – would have liked hardwood – be we admit we are on a budget and do not need hardwood 🙂 would rather have the money we saved to spend on our desks and walls!

I really like your table runner, so pretty with the decorations. Your floor is just gorgeous! Wow, you did a lot of work on your Primary Colors! Machine quilting is so fast, isn’t it? You certainly will meet your deadline. I’m excited to see the leaves to be going on the vine, so much progress. Have a great slow stitching Sunday.

thanks – been working on the machine quilting and saving the hand stitching later in the day. The table runner was from a Kim Diehl book

I have daylight bulbs just not in that one – I don’t usually take photos there. Thanks I have been cutting more leafs and think I have enough for the whole thing now. Binding is ready for machine work tomorrow. Sewing room needs a good clean up before I start to move things in and the design wall needs to be put up – almost ready.

  • Paula Budinger Oct 4, 2017

I love your Primay Colors, especially the way the two blocks work together. It will be a great finish. You will enjoy that floor. We had one installed and loved it. Easy maintenance, too. That room looks so perfect with your table decor. Enjoy it when the room is done.

    • Karen Oct 4, 2017

thank you Paula- yes the floor should be easy to care for – it is the same as what I have in the kitchen and it is super easy to clean. I hope to share photos of the sewing room sometime next week
