A Little Quilting A Little Applique

Fall Harvest (scrappy baskets), Murrieta Stars – Flannel

Just little by little and things will get done.  It was such a gorgeous day yesterday that I did more yard work than I should most likely have done and today I will probably be sore and need to sit and sew!  I was using the leaf blower and the rake and getting a lot of the leaves out of the beds where the tree that was cut down come down at.  The guys cleaned up most of it but there are always so many leaves that get packed down into the monkey grass and the shade bed by the porch (I guess this won’t be a shade  bed any longer – I will have to see how that goes in the spring)

On Wednesday night I did get a little hand quilting done on Murrieta Stars and have one are partly marked for the next hand quilting session.

A little more marking to be done in this block – a grid –

My new iron arrived and I will do a review of it tomorrow after I use it a little bit – the other iron will be put away in the quilt storage area.

And a couple leaves were appliqued on the 4th border of Fall Harvest – about 6 more to do I think and I was working on that some last night as I had a couple shows in the living room that I wanted to watch that I had recorded or streamed or whatever you want to call it – I just still use the old fashioned “record” word.  I am trying to not quilt every night so I use different motions in my fingers/hands and because I want to get this top done so I can move on to another.  linking to Sarah’s Confessions of a Fabric Addict — and Crazy Mom Quilts — and Busy Hands Quilts:Finish or Not Friday

The iron looks like it would be good to use on your little mat, hope it works out for you. Yes, a little at a time does it. It must be quite a job to do all those leaves, hope you take it easy today. Love that little sunflower you’re quilting.

the yard takes forever but with the riding mower it makes it so much easier – some though I just have to do with the rake to pull out from the bedding plants – that is the part that takes forever – I will be working on it for days on end for the next 3 weeks I image until all the leaves are down. I was finishing a book and doing laundry this morning and have not had time to review the iron still- later I hope 🙂

thanks Deb – once I found the right needle it sure worked out easier! I’m not sitting as long as I used to though and putting in as much long time in the evening – I got out of my routine and now to find it back 🙂

Your quilting is looking so pretty. I’m looking forward to your review of the new iron. It’s pretty, too. I had to laugh when I read your post about the little one because I had just bought a new larger iron and the little one that you are putting away. I do like the little one for pressing foundation piecing or little blocks as I go.

I posted a review of sorts on the Clover Iron on today’s post – the only thing I didn’t like is that it took awhile for it to heat up – about 5 minutes or more – maybe that will change as I use it but I would be surprised. I might have to look for another one! no not really I will go back to the other small one if I don’t like this one and go to the kitchen to use the bigger iron in there for big pieces – hard to find a small iron that you like sometimes.
