A Little Wool Work

Life in General, Murrieta Stars – Flannel, Wool Eggs

Saturday’s work outside really did me in and woke up so stiff on Sunday – I really shouldn’t have been surprised – it is just that I really felt ok on Saturday and didn’t feel like I was over doing it.  I think Sunday was half way over before I started to feel better and of course I was outside doing more work!  I didn’t do all that needed to be done though I saved some to do today.  Possibly from what the weather says we will be getting cooler weather and possibly snow flakes the first week of December – not surprised – it has to come sooner or later right.

I got some work started on the first wool Christmas Egg – I want to try to do a couple before Christmas and maybe if I keep track on my new 2018 Quilt Planner I can plan to do one a month.  I have barely looked the planner over but I want to try to organize myself a little better this year so thought I would try it out.  I hope to keep track weekly of what I want to do and accomplish that week and which projects to work on  – for instance maybe if I remind myself to work on Handful of Scraps on a Monday and a Christmas Egg on a Tuesday and so on things will get done and not forgotten?  You can also keep track of all your appointments, reminders for chores, all sorts of things – I will give it a try this year and if it doesn’t work out I won’t get another!  I’m sure by photos of my work area over the years you see I stick little notes on everything – I need to stop having notes all over the house and put them in one place.

The first egg will be in red/green colors – I’m still in the cutting out part of it, each side is supposed to be the same – or of course you can do it how you want to.  The little pieces will be stitched down with embroidery thread – I thought I might do some of it by machine but these pieces are tiny and I’m not experienced with machine applique and would do a mess on tiny pieces so I will practice on something else for the machine.

Quilting on Murrieta Stars is progressing very well.  I spritzed out the blue lines and here is a clearer idea of what has been done the last couple of days.

The 4 or is it the 5th attempt at a shawl is progressing!  I know how to crochet a little but only know the simple stitches– so seeing as Craftsy is having their sale I bought a crochet class.  It is called Fun and Fantastic Textured Crochet Stitches.  Now will I ever finish it – I don’t know but it was a low price class (I think it was $13.80 or something like that) and I thought it would be fun to see if I can ever learn anything when it comes to yarn!  Knitting and Crochet have never been a real talent with me but I love things made out of yarn –  I have so many quilts and so many projects that I feel I need to start adding a few things to my creative outlet –  your fingers go through different motions with each craft and sometimes you just need to get out of your comfort zone and try something new before you burn out.  Linking to Love, Laugh, Quilt  — Em’s Scrapbag —  Small Quilts & Doll Quilts .

It’s fun to have several different projects on the go that you can pick up depending on what you feel like working on! Murrieta Stars is really coming along – your stitching is so pretty on it. Hope you’re not waking up stiff and sore this morning!

Still a bit stiff in places – it takes awhile sometimes for those aches to ease up at my age LOL – but it didn’t help that I woke up at 3 and couldn’t fall back to sleep – about ready to nap now!!

I was just thinking you might be sore after all that yard work! You’re just like me, when I start the yard work, I can’t stop until it’s done. It used to be nothing to me when I was young, it’s a different story now, lol!. The red egg is going to be so pretty with that color of wool. You certainly are going to be organized even more this year with that lovely planner. I really like the way you’re quilting the stars, so pretty.

yes all that bending and stooping got to me – I’ll be back to normal in a day or two – just need to keep moving though so I don’t stiffen up too much! I hope the planner will work and not be something that I start and not finish

Love the yarn and the pattern on that shawl. I’m a slow knitter and pretty much gave up on crochet. But I still have way too much yarn! Oh well. Your hand quilting is exquisite! Keep up the great work.

I think most of us do usually have more than one project at a time – sometimes I think I would get more done if I worked on only one project and have one being quilted instead of 5 working on and one quilting!
