Let The Sales Begin

Murrieta Stars – Flannel, places

If you are a shopper now is the time to get going I guess – stand in line at the stores and keep checking off your lists – the Christmas rush has begun.  I’m afraid I am a scrooge (well maybe not  a scrooge but not a shopper)  – I don’t start shopping or decorating for Christmas for another week or so – I like for the memory of one holiday to be over before I start thinking of another one. The older I get and the more spread apart the family is does it to me I guess.

Mike had gotten over his cold the day before Thanksgiving but Melanie’s husband took his place in the sick line and so it was just Melanie over for Thanksgiving dinner and she brought some of the leftovers home with her to share with him.  After she went home and the kitchen was cleaned up we went for a late afternoon walk before it got dark to work off some of the pie and stuff!  These photos are from a near by nature trail that we have enjoyed for about 30 years now.  The little building is a bird blind – there are several located on the trails where you can hide from the birds to watch them.

And quilting from Wednesday night – didn’t get a lot done as I had a late start on it for some reason or other – I don’t remember what.  This is where I picked up on it last night.  I am linking to the Confessions of a Fabric Addict today – Busy Hands QuiltsCrazy Mom Quilts

Craftsy is having their yearly Black Friday Sale have fun shopping!!  This is the time of the year when you can look through those kits and even if you don’t like the pattern you can save big on the fabric included.  Save on notions, thread, yarn, cake decorating all sorts of things – have fun from the comfort of your home in your pajamas – I plan to.  Sale goes through Monday night at midnight –  classes marked down to $17.87 or less

Cyber Monday Bonus Offer:  Free gift with purchase

Looks like you had a sunny day yesterday, too. What a treat! Everyone was out walking in the morning before dinner (except me – it was too cold). I got a little sewing in, instead. I have done most of my shopping for out-of-town and am waiting for deliveries so I can finish packing things up. Will go out today for vacuum cleaner bags and milk, but that’s all (I hope).

I will go out today to walk, our fitness center always closes for four days over Thanksgiving for it’s yearly maintenance chores that are better done when no one is in the building – so everyone has to find other places to walk and exercise.

What beautiful pictures of your nature trail! I finished my shopping this morning online, the easy way, what fun. Yesterday I did get a quilt kit from Craftsy, beautiful fabric by Kaffe Fassett. It has over 11 yards of fabric at forty percent off, quite a bargain. It was a lovely sunny day here too. I managed to get some hexie sewing done, which I really enjoyed. Your quilting is coming along, so pretty. Enjoy your walk today!

thanks for ordering through the links Dottie – I haven’t gotten anything yet, I ‘m still looking. We do not do a lot of Christmas shopping in my house – the family in Wisconsin likes to get a check to divide up and buy what they like there – which is ok with me – with two teens it is hard to get them stuff when you are not around them all the time to know what they like – this way they do not have to return and buy correct sizes or something they really like 🙂 with Melanie and Ric here I like to get them each or together a basket of something put together to their likes and some money so they can get what they want. Mike and I spent a bit of money putting the sewing room/office together this year and that was a present in itself

thanks Michele – we were out walking again today and raking fall leaves as well – I made way too many pies and really need to work off the extra calories as I have enough pies to last through the weekend!! Thinking of little Wade and keeping him in your family in my thoughts!

What a beautiful walk you had. I love the colors of autumn, but November has it’s own beauty with the more muted tones. I braved the Black Friday crowds this year and survived. We have birthdays to celebrate before Christmas (and after), so that was my focus, but I did a lot of unexpected Christmas shopping on the side. I thought I was nuts to go out, but I was well after the early crowds so it wasn’t too bad. Not my thing, though, usually. Hope everyone gets back to feeling fine again in your family.
