Donation Quilt Done

This quilt is heading off to Vicki from Colorways by Vicki Welsh – we have been blog friends for years – she and a group out in Virginia make quilts for veterans and likes to get these small quilts – right size for hospital beds and wheel chairs.  I spent the morning yesterday in the sewing room and walking back and forth to the kitchen to press and got it finished.  Vicki will machine quilt it and hand it off to another to bind.  The quilt finished at about 49 x 56.5 inches.  Two charm packages were used and stash for the borders.  Now I can get back to some of the other things – I haven’t touched those darn wool Christmas eggs that I was going to start LOL – so much for starting a new project for Christmas – should have known better – I will be lucky to get one done.

On Wednesday night I did get a bit more done on the Murrieta Stars quilt though and more last night too.

I am waiting until the weekend before I attempt to start painting the kitchen – the noise from outside and the roof work is just too distracting.  They got at least half way done yesterday if not a little more – and it will be more of the same today.  I did escape for a couple hours yesterday and went to the fitness center and it was a nice reprieve but then it sounded even louder when I got home!

Painting the kitchen will not take long and the lights will come in on Monday after that I will start to think of Christmas.  Linking to Confessions of a Fabric Addict today and Busy Hands Quilts  and Crazy Mom Quilts .

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

Such a pretty donation quilt, I like how you extended the pattern into the corners and it is such a usable size. Christmas? I haven’t even thought about it yet, today is December first and it’s crept up on me.

Know what you mean about Xmas – it will be a week before I start to decorate probably – I really want to get the kitchen painted first – this weekend?

Congratulations on finishing the quilt, and such a good cause to donate it too! I hope you find some peace and quiet somewhere from all the noise. Maybe a walk on such a beautiful day today, I think 81 here today. More work in the yard today and than some hexie stitching in the evening for me. Enjoy your day even with the noise, it will be over soon.

the noise level has been much lower today after the first hour or two this morning – they are mainly over the kitchen/dining room now – the other side of the house from the sewing room and on the workshop also so much better today. Cooler here than what you have 60 and cloudy

That is a pretty finish, Karen! What size do they like their wheelchair quilts to be? I keep thinking I could make something of that size to donate, but never get much farther than the thinking!

I would get in touch with Vicki and see – follow the link I gave – I don’t know how many or how often they make them

The Country School Quilters are grateful to have this quilt to add to our donation to the McGuire VA Hospital!

Your quilts are lovely, and what a nice thing to do with the first one. Renovation noise is difficult to be around, for sure! We are done with most of that in the house, for now. Hope you can sneak in some peaceful quilting this weekend!

re-roofing was long overdue – some other things are due also- maybe they can wait until the new year – other than painting the kitchen this week and putting up new lights in it!! Then I will have time to decorate – on the plus side the roofers are gone and they cleaned up all around the outside of the house that it looks better than it did before 🙂

thanks! I have made some for Vicki before and her veterans group – easy size to do and she has a long arm that she does them up on and someone else in the group does the binding
