Round We Go

Hertfordshire Quilt, Murrieta Stars – Flannel, Round We Go

I got this circle star cut out Tuesday night for Round We Go and got it stitched yesterday – it went very quickly!  So I have two more of pattern 3 to make and then get started on pattern 4 – originally I was going to try to do one a week and then got side tracked last month from this and that and got a bit behind.  I haven’t even looked to see what pattern 4 looks like.

Round We Go

I’m still thinking of making a different one to take the place of that blue/green star – after I made that one I noticed I started making all of them with red in it and so I might continue that theme and if I do then I will do a different one to take the place of that.

When I went shopping with Melanie last night I had to look for a ruler with markings for a 16th of an inch – none of my rulers had it and for the new quilt Hertfordshire I needed to have one for the center squares – the quilt mainly has templates but the center is a 9 patch and they are 1&11/16’s of an inch!

Murrieta Stars – almost got done with this side of the quilt – but tired out before finishing it –

I never did get cookies or granola made yesterday so I need to get some baking done today  – I have two kinds of dough made and had it chilling – it will be chilled for sure now!

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

I agree about the red fabric. Still scrappy yet cohesive. Nice stars. I missed if they are hand or machine pieced?

Jill the stars are from Sue Dailey’s Round We Go pattern it is done with English Paper Piecing, when all the circles are done they are appliqued to a background – you can do this the method that you want and on one big piece of fabric or on squares and maybe set with sashing is what I think although you do what you want at this point I think although a lot will do it however she did I’m sure and I haven’t even looked LOL

I like the red throughout most of your stars, too! I have probably never needed a ruler that measures 16ths for a project, so never noticed if I had one that can do that. That will be some exact measuring for your new project!

I am bad at drawing a straight line even with a ruler and already drew out one square and double checked it and of course found it is not square LOL – I think I will need to make several more before I get it perfect – I want the center perfect as the rest pretty much has all the templates I believe but if the center is off—

I like the red throughout the quilt too. I know what you mean about the ruler, I think I have one somewhere, have to dig it out of my sewing room. It’s going to be tricky to do that measurement for sure! It’s hard to do quilting when Christmas is so close and so much else needs attention. Have fun baking your chilled cookie dough. A cookie and some tea sounds good.

It is hard to get started on the baking this year, I haven’t been in the baking mood and Mike really needs to loose weight and I don’t like to make it hard for him by baking so much – I know I will be giving some of it to Melanie but I still just haven’t felt like baking as much.
I got my center squares drawn out this morning – I think I will be doing this quilt EPP so many pieces and I am not an accurate machine piecier so that might be best for me.

I have been away from the computer for a few days, so I need to go back and catch up on the posts I missed.
Love the idea of having red as a unifying color in your Round We Go blocks!
I am baking cookies today…the house smells so good!!
Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas, Karen…and looking forward to following along on your quilting journey in 2018!!

nice to hear from you Sandra thought you must have been traveling for the holidays as I hadn’t heard from you recently. I hope you enjoy your holidays! I baked a little today and need to finish up tomorrow — I think the red theme for Round We Go is what I will be going with – some might not have a lot of red to dark pink in it but some!
