More on Round We Go

Handful of Scraps, Round We Go

Another circle star was cut out, glue basted and ready to work on yesterday while I was watching a Craftsy class on Cast Iron Cooking.  I have always just purchased quilting classes but with the Craftsy Unlimited I thought I would pick a cooking show to watch and it was interesting and kept me company while I was busy selecting fabric and prepping.  It is interesting looking through all the classes available that I would normally never think of buying – like the cast iron cooking – gardening shows too interest me but I wouldn’t buy them – Unlimited has it’s pluses – but I’m not sold on it yet – will I watch enough to make it worth while?

Sometimes I pick out a background fabric for these by laying all the pieces out on top – if I have two pieces this size it will work as these background pieces are odd sizes.

I liked it and so now I have the next one ready to work on.

The one I was working on the last 2 days joined the other finished pieces on the wall – the bottom row to the right is the one I finished.  Linking to Esther’s Quilt Blog.

Next up is Pattern #4 – all the pieces and instructions come in this neat little evelopes.

The table was cleaned back up and

The boxes back on the shelf for the next time – when I finish the star that I prepped I will take a short break and work on another project – I am trying to rotate so I don’t get tired of them.

I switched out to the white cat mug that has been sitting on the shelf awhile for my tea – although pretty much the same as the blue mug this one has a handle that is a little thicker and the cat is on the opposite side of the mug.

The blue cat mug back up on the shelf with the others (more scattered throughout the house) I have a couple favorites that are very large and too big for hot drinks as the tea or coffee would be cold by time I finish but I do use them now and then for cold drinks instead although most of the time I have them on the sewing tables full of scissors and pens/pencils and small rulers.

Quilting from Sunday night on Handful of Scraps

The storms that came through Sunday night missed us – we had rain and thunder but no tornado’s – it got up to 60 degrees and then by Monday morning it was 42 and the wind howled from the north all day – nearing the end of January we have had snow flurries one day – maybe on the weekend the weatherman said but he expects no more than flurries are we going to have a winter with no snow – happens more often then getting snow around here – I’m not complaining because if we do we will get more than I want!

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

Your mugs look really cute, and those cat ones are adorable. I use the extra big ones in the bathroom for our toothbrushes and such. Helps me corral Paul’s clutter! Others I use to hold pens and pencils on my desk. One mug that I love has feet with high heels, but it’s too top heavy to store things in. Guess I’ll just put it on display in the kitchen.

Your round we go quilt is really taking shape!

mugs are cute and I have a hard time to not buy more — but you have to stop at some point!

Your cat mugs are so cute! It’s fun to switch out the mugs now and then. After Christmas, I put out my snowmen mugs, now I’m about ready to use ones that are red/pink and white for Valentines Day. I like the background for your newest Round We Go block! How many of those blocks does the pattern have?

I don’t have any for Valentines Day – I haven’t bought many new mugs in the last 5 years or so. Round We Go is a yearly BOM by Sue Daley – 4 circle stars for each month (48 total) – i have not joined an official group as I knew I wouldn’t keep up, I always get distracted by other projects.

yes I’m watching things I normally wouldn’t be paying for in classes – interesting all the other things besides quilting that is on Craftsy

    Dear Karen

Your Hertfordshire Quilt is coming along beautifully. Mine is getting there, after a small speedbump.

Maggie did you end up making any mistakes? I decided it might be best for me to work on it one week then take a week doing something else and circulate my projects so I do not tire of any of them

Love your Round We Go project – and I’m drooling over your storage boxes. I have the same approach of rotating through several projects, and I’m now inspired to get prettier storage for them. Right now I just re-use shipping boxes. Eco-friendly and free, but they’re just – blah! you know? And I hate dealing with the flaps all the time instead of a fitted lid.

I need to drop by Hobby Lobby and see what they have – I used to find these kind of things at Tuesday Morning but they went out of business in my town – I love keeping the projects in the pretty boxes or up on the wall
