First it was a wind storm and tornadoes in our area then 2 unusual heavy snow storms in March and here we go again only this time unusually heavy rain. Over a period of about 30 hours we received 6 1/2 inches of rain. Our ground has been so totally saturated with water between rain and snow falls that we are now experiecing flooding!! At least we are on high ground — here are some photo’s of area’s nearby:

Flood waters by the Arkansas River by the lock and dam park:

We came very close to being hit by a tornado yesterday. Atkins AR was hit very badly, it is 15 miles (est.) to the east of us. Here we had rain and wind but nothing special – then we heard the sirens going off for tornado warnings and could see on the news that it wasn’t for us but east of us. Our power went out and we put the generator back to work and got the tv hooked up so we could keep track of the storms. All day off and on the news has been on showing the destruction which was very bad. 4 people died in that town and more in other towns to the north east of the state. That was a little too close for comfort. Here is a link to a photo slide of storm damage across the south from Arkansas to I’m not sure where all. In the beginning of the slide show are photo’s from Arkansas, if you read the labels you will see the utter destruction in the area. http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/Deadly-tornadoes-strike-South-Cyerice-Martin-right-comforts-sister-Seavia-Dixon-left-Wednesday-Feb/ss/events/us/020608southtornadoes/s:/ap/20080206/ap_on_re_us/severe_weather
we were lucky our power was only out for 3 hours — I say only because last week when a cold front came rushing through our state we had a very bad wind storm and were out of power for 32 hours!
My daughter showed me this wonderful quilt store in Waunakee Wisconsin just down the road from her a short way. What a wonderful store and the building is so neat inside of it. I plan on going back to this shop whenever we go back to Wisconsin to visit.

We went to Little Rock last weekend and walked across this pretty bridge that was made specifically for walking, biking and roller skates. It is a nice walk and the trail and access to the trail are handicap accessible.
