Would I want to make it? Nope! These days I seem to be into easy and quick. I have one more complicated project going and then several quick ones in between. Right now I'm quilting a Dresden Plate throw. The plates took several months to finish, just because it was one of those "take it up, put it down" projects. I hand appliqued the plates onto the background. Someone pointed out that I could ahve machine stitched them faster, but I wanted to do it that way. Go figure!?!

Hi Karen, Thanks so much for the link to my blog for my Quilt and to the ladies for their lovely comments. I have had a comment on my blog from Kathi and I have emailed her to explain the reason behind the price I have charged for my book. Our retail price in Australia for printed folded patterns are AU$15 - $17. Our cost of living is a lot higher than the US with our minimum wage of about $17.50 per hour. Our Australian dollar has been very strong against the US$ for a couple of years, until a few days ago when it has dropped below parity. The postage cost to the US is AU$13.70 (without the charge of the envelope) so I have reduced this to the customer. I have no control over postage (unfortunately). So when you take all of that into account it isn’t too expensive. I have sold 200 copies so far, including some to the US and Spain, and have had very positive comments from those who have read it. It took me many hours to write and research the book and I hope this helps to explain the price I charge.
The estimation of the time I spent on the quilt was necessary as the most common question I get asked is "how long did it take you to make it?".
Thanks again Karen.....Love your Patchwork of the Crosses quilt!!!
Cheers Linda

Maybe it used a lot of fabric and that is why she is charging $19.50 for a 20 page book about it... that is highway robbery to ask that much I think. Plus shipping of $10 US. Very good story until I got to the end and that sucked the fun out of her process for me. I love to get involved in projects... but I don't count my hours... I just enjoy the time God gives me to spend quilting! lol
Thanks for a great blog post and an entertaining conversation point too... if I ever make a famous kind of quilt you can be guaranteed I won't overcharge for a book about the quilt! lol

I would be interested in how much fabric it used - especially with fussy cutting some pieces - my mind boggles at the cost as fabric is $30 a metre here (1 yard 3 inches)

Hi Karen: I know that some bloggers who start making those hexies become obsessed with the process! Be very careful, you are doing something that becomes addicting....grinning here.
I tried to log into the blog to see the quilt but could not. I know that what you do is what most of us who pass through this blog think you, of all our quilters have a special gift in hand quilting. You have it or you are like me. I know I do not have it although each day I think, maybe this square could be hand quilted....then I remember you saying in a blog that preparation is what it is all about...I will prepare a block.....soon.
Considering you only make those on Fridays, you are doing so well.
