{"id":59191,"date":"2020-07-26T03:02:00","date_gmt":"2020-07-26T08:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/karensquilting.com\/blog\/?p=59191"},"modified":"2020-07-26T07:58:46","modified_gmt":"2020-07-26T12:58:46","slug":"alaska-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karensquilting.com\/blog\/2020\/07\/alaska-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Alaska"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well I had planned on taking a whole week off of quilting but that didn\u2019t happen.\u00a0 I did sit down at the frame a couple days ago to look it over and start to decide a quilting design \u2013 I even started and then actually picked stitches out because I didn\u2019t care for it.\u00a0 I am settling into it though and have decided some of it.<\/p>\n<p>For those that haven\u2019t see all of <strong><em>Alaska<\/em><\/strong> this is what it looks like \u2013 I am on the first row of blocks \u2013 done with the first border<\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/karensquilting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_7803.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"IMG_7803\" src=\"https:\/\/karensquilting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_7803_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7803\" width=\"1012\" height=\"760\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>\n<p>This is the area I picked out the other night and then settled in on it off and on Friday \u2013 the light colors as you can see from the above photo I consider background and I am doing the diagonal lines there \u2013 then starting with the darker colors I wanted a start affect radiating out to the stars \u2013 or I guess you could say that the opposite way but on a three roller hand quilting frame you do not start from the middle but from the top or bottom depending on how you put it on the frame and then quilt all the way across and then keep rolling it down.<\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/karensquilting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_8880.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"IMG_8880\" src=\"https:\/\/karensquilting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_8880_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_8880\" width=\"576\" height=\"767\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/karensquilting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_8882.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"IMG_8882\" src=\"https:\/\/karensquilting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_8882_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_8882\" width=\"576\" height=\"767\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>\n<p>blue pen doesn\u2019t always give perfect lines as the pen gets used up the tip flares out a little so you need to watch it if you want perfectly straight lines and adjust your quilting and not always go exactly with the lines.\u00a0 So anyhow it is a start \u2013 I am not putting in 2 hours a night right now for sure with the summer evenings being nicer outside then the daytime.\u00a0 I will sit occasionally in the hot afternoon at the quilting frame instead like I used to do.<\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/karensquilting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_8883.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"IMG_8883\" src=\"https:\/\/karensquilting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_8883_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_8883\" width=\"576\" height=\"767\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>\n<p>One more<strong><em> diamond<\/em><\/strong> finished \u2013 this one took 3 days to do as I kept sitting it aside<\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/karensquilting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_8885.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"IMG_8885\" src=\"https:\/\/karensquilting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_8885_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_8885\" width=\"576\" height=\"767\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>\n<p>The second red block of<strong><em> Country Charmer<\/em><\/strong> was finished and added to the wall \u2013 photo taken and then all stacked back up in the box until next time.<\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/karensquilting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_8876.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"IMG_8877\" src=\"https:\/\/karensquilting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_8877_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_8877\" width=\"576\" height=\"767\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>\n<p>And for those that have asked about the pattern this is it \u2013 if you are interested you can go to Lynn\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/sewnwildoaks.blogspot.com\/\">blog and access her pattern shop<\/a> from there \u2013 and yes the block layout sheet comes with the pattern \u2013 I love it and it is so helpful to keep your pieces organize and play with color.\u00a0 If I remember right Lynn says they are included with all her patterns but I could be wrong on that so don\u2019t hold me to that.\u00a0 My sashing and nine patches will have the newsprint type of fabric and black like this \u2013 it is one thing that really attracted me to the pattern.<\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/karensquilting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_8878.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline;
