Today was a day to explore by driving somewhere – (9/13) we left the campground early and headed out the scenic route to Bayfield (I was going to do Bayfield and Ashland in one post but too many photos) – once again we were disappointed in the scenic route as it wasn’t close enough to the shore line to see the lake very well except in a couple places.
This was the trail that went down to the lake – had to watch your step but it was ok and the slope wasn’t bad going down to the water.
This was the same area – we parked the car and got out and spent time looking at the plants and the water.
Continued on our way to Ashland and stopped at a little town to get gas and use the bathroom – can’t come to Wisconsin without seeing signs for “Fish Boil”!
Town of Bayfield – a very pretty place and we will be back here on Monday to take a cruise out to the Apostle Islands.
I love all the hanging baskets and flower baskets.
A very hilly town and very large old houses up on this hillside overlooking the lake.

Another beautiful place – you really have an enjoyable journey!
Pretty scenic route. Have not yet vivited the Wisconsin side of Lake Michigan. Would love to walk that path to lake and also see the town. Thanks for sharing your trip.
P.S. Correction please. Not Lake Michigan, Bayfield is near Lake Superior!
that’s right Jill – Bayfield and the northern part of Wisconsin is by Lake Superior – beautiful lake!!
