Ice, Sleet, Snow

Well moisture came down more in the middle of the night. We lost power around 1 AM and still have no power.  Generator is running, fireplace going – couple lights on and space heaters.  So far so good.  A couple tall thin pine trees are leaning too much to my likening– it makes me nervous – they could fall – we will find out I guess and if they don’t I think one thing we need to do soon is hire a tree service to cut down the pine trees close to the house – they are always the bad ones to have in ice storms.  We had talked about it this past summer when Mike cut down the ones he was able to – the others were too close to the house for him to feel he could do them.  Time got away from us and we never did it.  Wish we had now.

Looking out the window from the sewing table – workshop and bird feeders

The trees over the workshop area

This tree is far from the house and huge but you can see how covered in ice and snow it is.

Looking out the front door – little branches down but nothing major – we have talked of having this tree right next to the porch cut down also.

Using the Iphone for a hotspot for internet – well update when I can.  So far the electric company says some outages could last 5 to 7 days – hope it isn’t for us but who can tell.

Glad to hear that things are OK so far. It stinks losing power, but at least you have hand-sewing to keep you busy and the fireplace to keep you warm! 🙂

Hopefully it won’t get any worse for you. Here in upstate NY, we were originally forecasted to get just rain from the storm. Now, they’re saying we are likely to get about 1-2 inches of snow. Not much, but hopefully it will stay as snow and not get any ice.

Still snowing in N. AR. We have about 8 inches and it is still snowing. It’s supposed to quit by 5 PM and be bitterly cold overnight. Hope you get your power back soon.
    Stay safe and warm.

We got mostly rain with a bit of sleet this am and ice formed on trees but not heavily, we are thankful to have power. So thankful we have a generator in case it does go out. Take care and stay warm hope your power returns soon.

Hope you get power back sooner than what you were told. Here in North Dakota we finally got about 7 inches of snow and are having below zero temps already. Did my errands today in 6 below zero!!! But that’s winter here and I don’t mind it as love the 4 seasons.

Went without power for 7 days back in 2006. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone … glad that you have power back. We had no generator, and temperatures were bitterly cold after the ice storm moved through. The temperature inside the house was in the upper 30’s when power finally came back on.
